if space wasn't an issue, could you grow other things too? tomatos, herbs, etc?

hello everyone. i have been wanting to ask the above question for a while and i have researched and can't find anything one way or the other as far as an answer. if there is something obvious i don't know it's because i'm a newbie.

Potted, i was thinking the light would be on anyway so it would be a way of saving money (or at least not spending it on veggies). is the idea that there is only so much light to go around so if i have other types of plants i'm automatically robbing my main grow of light?

i had assumed that i could just grow some other stuff alongside the main grow thus not having it be any different than if the veggies weren't there at all. sorry if that's basic but i am just trying to understand the why of the process.

also, i should have said indoors but not in a tent. sorry.

Hi bob. Someone back awhile said they grow catnip for their kitties in their grow tent. If you have room for a tomato plant, heck why not give it a try.

Well, I hadn't thought about pests, but if its indoors, pests shouldn't be a problem? As for robbing the light from the main show (the pot plants) I'm not sure about that......maybe it would. I would start out with herbs probably

Mcrude, you need to find something that the grasshoppers will like better than your pot plants. What do grasshoppers usually eat?

I'm the Ganja Farmer, my wife grows everything else. She has a green house and a outside garden.

I plan on expanding my garden. I'm going to try grow "tricky" types of things not suited very well to my climate just for fun. As far as using up light, I don't think light can be used up, it's constantly being produced, not limited like oxygen.

yes, i am interested in doing the same thing! i am thinking of trying some heirloom tomatos to start and see how it goes.

Cannabis is a light loving plant. Lots of herbs and veggies don't need a lot of light, you can shove em in the corner.

Grab a lemon seed from your next lemon. Plant in dirt. Wait a very long time to grow a tree. Mine is small but when you touch the leaves you smell lemon and it's awesome

Mcruderalls just for the record I start all my summer time plants under my grow lights veggies & flowers it gives me a mounths head start never tried to go all the way. Just put outside when warm enough. Peace
