Sitting here watching Matthew,dump inches of rain,made some Bar B Q earlier,got a little glow.Now just enjoying the show.This got me thinking though,how do indoor growers deal with power outages,how many days with lights off until you get concerned.I have a generator for just such occasions,but so far all my grows have been outside.What would you do,if no generator,and days without power.

I hate them to a lot better when I got generac stand by generator to power whole house glad east coast got it now my outside crop has chance to mature 23 females

If you DWC and you lose power, you have a couple hours and your plants will die.. stand by generator a must have item..

When it comes to grow lights turning off because the power went out, the best thing you can do is make sure your plants are getting at least some amount of light during their day period, even if it's just the light from the window. They will not do well if you keep them in total darkness in their tent for a few days because it messes up all their processes and they'll start deteriorating quickly If they're getting low levels of light they definitely won't be growing as well as normal, but they'll do much better. Even shining a really bright flashlight on them periodically is better than leaving them in the dark during their "day" period. It's also important to make sure they don't get cold; I was raised in the Northeast and I know that sometimes the temperature can plummet when the power goes out!

I found something really neat for DWC growers who lose power. It's a battery operated air pump and they're super cheap! They're designed for sending fish through the mail but they work for DWC too. It definitely doesn't work as well as a regular air pump, but it'll work in a pinch and be able to keep your plants alive until the power comes back! They use D batteries and will last about a day if you're using real batteries, or about 8 hours if you're using rechargeable ones. I bought a couple of these along with a huge pack of D batteries that I keep right next to it in case of emergency
