Humidity Control

Good morning everyone,
I am curious about the your humidity levels and for those of you in dry winter places, what do you use to increase or maintain at around 70%? I am thinking about a humidifier my self because my basement is at about 15 to 20%. All your help is appreciated.
 
I don't worry about RH too much. I live in a area where the RH is at a constant 20-35%. I have a humidifier going all day long and it don't help much. it doesn't seem to hurt the plants at all. So, I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, you don't want high RH in the flowering period anyway.
 
I'm waiting for my light fixture to show up, for me waiting is a time to worry! I hate sitting around on my hands...
 
I am in middle of a grow and my humidity hangs consistently in the teens. I tried to use a humidifier but it failed after about a week. In past grows my humidity has been a little higher and plants didnt suffer to much. This year its been worse, very cold and dry, so tried to moderate it. Now that ive wasted money and time im just going to let it ride. In the greater scheme of things that can effect your grow, humidity doesnt make the top of the list. Watch it during flowering tho..
 
Did you all see the little personal humidifier that Green recommend in his grow journal and I saw that Karlee had just bought one. It uses an inverted 20 oz bottle of water. Made by Bell and Howell I believe.

I'm glad to hear though that through personal experience low humidity does not effect grow.

I live in a region where the RH is around 25 - 30%. My grow (DWC) is in a converted closet and the RH stays around 50%. I try to not let it get much higher than that because of mold potential, and because, I think, that the lower RH helps the plants up take of the water and nutrients. I have a small fan at the top of the grow space as well as two oscillating fans to circulate the air. I regulate (or fool myself into thinking that I am) the RH by adjusting the speed (off,low, or high) of the top fan and by also adjusting the open space of the doors (bi-fold closet doors) to allow more or less dry air in. It is, as others have said, not as critical during the grow as it is during the late stages of bud development and harvesting / drying and curing.
 
We drink Folgers coffee. So I have kept a lot of the little buckets the coffee comes in for various things. They make good water buckets and I have several In my veg and flower rooms. It raises it up pretty good. Then in the summer I take them away and use a dehumidifier. Mine still stays under 40% though with the buckets.
 
Ok, 1 less thing to worry so much about, I will keep track of it with my humidity meter. I have alot of coffee buckets kicking around and will check on availability of the humidifier as well..Thanks folks:)
 
Hi syncro, I grow in a small room in my house where it's relatively easy to bring the humidity up or down. I have both a humidifier and a dehumidifier: during the veg stage of my current grow, I kept it around 60% in the room, and last summer the dehumidifier was extremely helpful in bringing down the humidity, which is quite high where I live (dirty South). I just switched to flowering, and I'm letting the room stay around 37% humidity.

The humidifier is a cheap little Vicks and it's worked like a champ (but you gotta keep the inner parts clean). I have soft water, so it's easy on the humidifier.
