Hello i recently purchased a hps grow system and wasnt sure if i could vegg under hps because i usually use cfl or t5 to vegg. Im thinking HPS lighting is only good for Flowering anybody that could help i would appreciate it.

If that is all you can use...then it will work just fine...even better than cfls... But if you can get a mh then do it.

It's all about the watts....

Our just spend more money for a lec light...lol

It's 250W but I have a grow box 4ftx2ft so I think the ladies will love it.

Use your cfl's for vegation and the Hps for flower - This is what many cultivators use in vegation stage. You can use your Hps for entire grow but look at the electric bill - at any rate you would have tall lanky plants using Hps for total grow - because of light spectrum difference's

CFLs and MH have a blue spectrum, beneficial for vegging while HPS have a red spectrum, beneficial for flowering. But Green is right wattage is king.

I know it's not popular, but I use an HPS from seed to harvest. I like how the plants grow. Vegetative plants tend to grow more stretchy, which I like better for training/manifolding. Under a MH the plant stays 4 inches tall and just grows humongous leaves, which is perfect for some situations, but just not how I like to grow :)
