HPS 1 week seeds life

In the 1st week of my seeds plants life, what distance should i have it?
I got 1M because my bigger plants
its my 1st time planting
Lots of seeds die
one of this new 4 i think 1 arent growing and other i need to get feith in her

I'm all LED so best to search specific to the lamp. Always hear HPS to hot for seedlings

I use hps but i keep it quite far away cos i like more space between nodes to help with training.Another thing i done before was put a glass or see through cup over the top of them till there a little older because it helps keeps the strengh of the light down and sometimes they do prefer it thar way
