How to pick photoperiod seeds that grow well together?

I'm in the planning phase before my first grow.

I decided to go with photoperiod seeds since that gives me more time to figure out watering and get plants healthy before I initiate the flowering stage.

Maybe I'll grab a few autoflower seeds and just grow them alongside the photoperiod seeds for an extra early harvest. Even if I mess up with them, I'll have the photoperiod plants. I've heard some people say it can be fun to do both autoflower and photoperiod together. But others say it's just more work.

I figure I should try to avoid short or tall strains for my first grow.

I plan to grow 4 plants, but I'm not sure if it should be all different strains, or maybe two strains with 2 plants each.

Should I try to get a bunch of strains by the same breeder, or should I use different breeders and just try to match the stats?

Have you ever grown strains that match each other? Any horror stories where different strains cause problems?
 
Yes. I really like Killer A5 Haze from Ace Seeds. It's a photo. I like Zamaldelica also from Ace. It's an auto.
 
Different strains in the same tent is definitely doable but you might run into problems with different heights, nutrient needs, light etc. To be fair you can still have those problems with different phenos of the same strain but usually you can get by treating them all the same.
 
All you can do is use strains that have a similar stretch rate and flowering time. THere is a lot of variation plant to plant within a strain let alone different strains.
I have a four plant limit I use to grow four different, but now I’ve settled on two plants from two strains at a time. This way I get to see two different individuals from each strain which gives you a basis for comparison, even if it’s not a very wide cross section
 
CAN DO…wanted to try the same thing and had a bunch of concerns as well. Decided I would try with clones which I’ve never used. Week 5 of 12/12 now and looking good. Lots of LST during veg to keep canopy a uniform height. Harvest times will vary but that’s okay.
