How many watts for my tent?

This is my second grow, and first one with HID lights. I have a small 2x4x6 tent with plants that are 3 or 4 weeks old. Should I run my ballast at 400 or 600 watts? I have a good enough fan to keep the temp right regardless. But I'm concerned that 600 might be too much for a small space and I don't want to hurt my plants.

A 400w HID would be better suited for your space. The 600w will emit enough PPF to overwhelm your space.

So that's probably why they were starting to get a bit wilted. I switched it back to 400 last night and they look better. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else.

How many plants should I have in there? I don't plan on training them, just a bit of pruning. Since it's only my second crop I decided to just take this time to study and learn the plants a bit more.

If your aren’t training, you are only limited by the physical floor space and your final containers. If you roll this way, I’d say prune the outward leaves that are blocking or hampering airflow only.
