How long is weed good for?

How long will weed last in a jar that is burbed once a month? The jars are kept is in a cool dim space. No humidity control or meter in the jars. I'm just curious what are others experiences in keeping weed for a long time in a jar. All replies apreciated.

Just opened an old skool sativa this weekend that is just over 3 years old. It was average but ok.

I havent smoked that strain in over a couple of years and barely smoked at all in the past 18 months though so hard to give an objective view regarding smoothness, etc... Flavour wasn't there but I find that with hydro there is a drop off of that across all grows. I dont think that one had a whole lot going on flavour wise when fresh.

Having said that I opened an 18 month old jar a few weeks ago, different strains and the results were great. I dont put that down so much to the age of the bud but more so to the quality and characteristics of the strain.

So it can be difficult to tell but if maintained like fine wine a few years no problem

Will maintain potency for 2yrs if cured and stored properly. After that it’s starts to degrade but it’s gradual. I have some GG4 that’s 4yrs old and dirt brown now but it still packs a punch but it’s more of a sleepy buzz now.

I’m more of a tincture guy. I whip up a batch this spring from some grown in w2023 spring it still has a good kick. That being said I usually let it set a month them evaporate about another month so more of a concentrate. Jam sandwich strain

You can put it in vacuum seal bags and throw it in the back of the freezer. Seems to stop any more anything as far as changing. Pulled out a 1 year old batch and it was like the day I froze it. That's what I do.

Thanks all. Thanks Miguel. I'll throw a jar in the freezer then. The reason I'm asking is that since I don't know any other smokers really, I don't give any away since it's illegal here. I did a grow last year and still have 4 jars left. It seems I can wait another two years till I need to refresh my stash. Thanks everyone for your input...
