How dry for dry sift

I'm enjoying all phases of my S. Galaxy. Including the bit of kief/hash I dry sifted.
I do not know how much I had in the bag but the return was enough for a bowl topper. There was a good bit left on what bud I had after about 20 seconds of shaking with a couple quarters in the bag.
The flower is dry enough to stay lit in the bowl but still feels... supple? Not wet, not dry. Maybe fluffy? Nugs are ground with a hand grinder. Used a 220 bag.
Is there an answer to how dry should the flower be before sifting? I have a mass laying out over a cookie sheet next to a breeze to go for a crunchier texture and doing another grind.
I am also considering buying a bag of ice and going that route. But I would kill a lot of ice cubes for my little gallon bags.

I dont have an answer to the dry sift, my "grinder" has a screen in it, never has anything under it. I am thinking about getting bags and doing the ice hash with some old bud.

Yeah. I removed my screen. Hardly a scratch of kief. The bud that falls through the holes is a little more kiefy than the ground.

I purchased a sift trim tray with a 150 micron screen on Amazon. I primarily use it for all my trim. I will let the trim sit out and dry for a few days until it basically will crumble and then put that in my tray, shake it and move it around with a credit card until it's almost a powder. I got approximately 15 grams of golden kief from last season's harvest. I don't use a grinder anymore so I use it when I'm rolling joints and break my buds by hand and I get some that way as well.

I have an ounce of bud sitting in a freezer. What does someone think about extra drying dried bud in a freezer for sifting?

Dry it as much as you can. I like my smokable bud around 55 to 58 but for hash below 50 and freeze it prior to the ice water.

The freezer it is in is -10 to -20. My plan is to freeze and crush the nugs.
I did a cold water hashing with a tray of ice cubes. I got to figuring as long as the water is not warm enough to soften the trichomes, the trichomes will agitate off. Got 3 grams of kief from 20-25 grams of ground green in a 220 bag.
