Update 33b: 10.3.21 Transition to Flower day 4 Okay... I'm calling it. First official day of bloom will be Monday 10.4.21. By the end of 24 hour cycle today the girls will be at 12.5 hours of darkness and have flower sign on nearly every branch. The next post will be tomorrow - Flowering Day 1 with photo's.
I keep them at 12.5dark/11.5light for at least the next 8 weeks. This gives me 15 minutes on either end that I can open the tent take care of any last minute details and/or take photo's with a flash and still not mess with the core 12 hours of contiguous darkness. Sometimes I don't utilize the time, so my girls always get 'up to' 12.5 hours of darkness but 'at least' 12.
1/2 an hour doesn't affect yield. That being said 14 hours of darkness or more will make your buds ripen earlier and this WILL affect yield as your plants are not getting the 2-3 hours of light that they would normally get to fill in, fill out and fatten your buds.
Man what an awesome grow you have there. I've just set up my first dwc. I'm doing a single auto in one to sort of test the waters and see if it's something I like to get into more. Thank you for the inspiration.
Update 34b: 10.5.21 Flowering Week 1 Day 2 - Not much to report in the last 24 hours - I've kind of gotten used to walking in and seeing them whenever I want - having the light off in the day time has been an adjustment for me. I feel like I hardly see them anymore :hard-laugh: This will be the last photo update until Week 2 Day 1 of Flowering.
Update 35: 10.11.21 Week 2 Day 1 of Flowering I’ve had to do a little more defoliation since the last post. The girls were just too bushy with leaves covering growth tips. They’re a little more open now and it’s clear to see the stretch is on. Beginning this week I’ll clean out the under growth and remove the majority of all leaves below the lowest flower. By week 3 of flowering they will both be ready for their final haircut. For the week 3 defoliation I will remove the remainder of leaves below the lowest flower and cull ‘runners’ or branches that will never fully develop due to size or compactness of existing branches. Branches will be as cleared of large fan leaves as much as possible while leaving enough small leaves for them to grow in the next two weeks and nourish the plants. After week 3 leaves will be folded or tucked away and only be removed if absolutely necessary. The last 10 days to 2 weeks I will remove even more leaves effectively lollipopping each flowering branch in preparation for harvest. The last 7-10 days the girls will get their final tub change and be fed only ph’d water and Flawless Finish.

Update 35b: 10.12.21 I did a bit of clean up on undergrowth this morning before the light went out. The Banana Kush is smelling like you just stuck your head in a Dole banana box. The Chocolate Mint is ramping up her olfactory work as well and the tent is smelling... DELICIOUS!
Update 36: 10.14.21 Week 2 Day 4 (11 days) into flowering About the only thing that has happened since the last update is that I have been doing daily selective defoliation to keep flowering growth tips as exposed as possible. Here's a photo compilation from today when the lights came on. First pic is a flash to expose all of those growth tips... Individual images will be labeled. As always, the Banana Kush is on the left and the Chocolate Mint OG is on the right:

Next photo update once the girls have reached Week 3 Day 1
Happy Pharming!
Update 37: October 16, 2021 I wasn’t planning on doing any updates until week 3 day 1 but I did a big defoliation today 2 days early and thought I should document it in the grow journal. So without further adieu here are the girls with their week 3 trim up a little ahead of time. A quick cursory count of flowering growth tips range between 48 and 60 per plant.
Ckbrew pretty much. I may have a few left that will have to go in the next week. But they’re both pretty much cleared out of smaller branches. The next week or so and those will go too. I want them open to light all the way to main branches. 38 flowering growth tips with at least 6 inches of flower packets will be pretty darn close to a lb per plant dried and cured.
