High Winter 2020

Glad to see you get a harvest in SoOrbudgal ! I can tell the days are getting longer here, sun is once again coming through my skylight and into
my grow closet for a few minutes in the afternoon. Makes for a sparkly pic LOL. Ended wk 6 of flowering and no doubt why it's called white window:)

When i jar my buds, i put my popcorn and secondary buds all together in the same jars. This way it’s like a good ol’ fashioned “surprise grab bag” whenever i dip onto it. Some buds are all white glitter....some have ambers...not knowing until it’s rolled-n-smoking. 🙂
 
Where i am, we are increasing daylight by 3 minutes per day. It’s very uplifting to the spirits to cast-off the dark, short days of winter during this time of year.

Currently 14 degrees, was 7 degrees earlier. At least the sun is out so that's nice.
Just booked a flight to Florida at the end of April,so I'm looking forward to having to shape my eyes, as well as the rest of me (lol) :)
 
I have a question for all y'all up north, during the ice storm something strange happened, I cant explain what, but I'll give some details. Before the snow got here we had freezing rain sleet etc. with a small accumulation, about 1/2". This night it was 12*F when I crashed, I was woke up to a terrible sound, water falling at about 2 AM! I soon noticed it was coming from outside, which meant no busted pipes, its just a heavy rain at about 5*F (gonna be lots of ice) and I went back to sleep. Next morning when the sun turned on and I could see outside, all the ice was just as it was the night before except all the ice from the trees and the tops of homes was gone. This never was explained by the media, but many noticed it, and it was wide spread.
So what can melt the ice from the trees (and roofs) when the temp is between 0 and 10*F, and do it in just a minute or two? Even a 90*F blast would have taken more time to melt the shit.
 
Solar intensity, maybe? The air temp can be very cold, but if the sun’s strength is intense enough it will heat surfaces....just like an infrared heater, it heats the surface of objects but not the air.
 
I'm not a meteorologist but here in the great Canadian north we don't pay too much attention to it. Maybe because I was born here and for us it's a "natural phenomena" or maybe not.... Anyway we all agreed when spring is around the corner the sun is getting stronger and we all say it's getting milder when the snow on the roof is melting but on the ground the ice is as solid as rock in our driveway. Today it's 3F and sunny and most snow on the roof is melting as we speak.
 
Good morning GWE i wish all good health and longer days of sunshine as spring has shown her lovely colors. Wild plum trees are blooming, the daffodils and blue bells are showing and the robins and buzzards are here. No i am not going to begin my out door photo seeds yet. Update on this current tent which has 4 different photo strains. Left front is the Tie Dye, R front is Wedding Cake, L back of tent is Zskittlez, R back is GG#4. The 3rd pic is my thoughts about the covid relief pkg. I sure hope it's big enough to help out all those folks :mad: now nancy can restock her bar. Guess granpa joe had to banish his doggies to the farm cause one bit a staff member well I don't blame the dog I blame his environment. Anyhoo, looks like harvest for me will be close to the end of March on GG#4 and Tie Dye other 2 not long after if all goes well. GG is putting out the colors. I'm just sitting and waiting couple weeks i'll start checking trichs. all are approx. 55 to 60 days in flower. Have a lovely day all :D

How do you know it happened in a minute or two? I'd guess that the trees had warmth inside from the roots deep in the ground, and if the homes had any heat that was melting the roof ice, if it wasn't windy. That was the weirdest storm here in northern IL. I just yesterday was able to exit my front door, the bottom of the steps was like a mini rink, huge icicles kept melting and growing the slab even thicker. I was only able to exit via the garage door, I carried the opener as house 'keys'. My front yard is half green grass and half snow still, north-facing, it's been in the 60's for three days. I live at the end of a block, own 2 acres of steep ravine and have a manhole in my yard for the storm sewer that empties into the ravine, 62 feet down. The manhole had a ring of ~ 2 feet of grass showing around it but my little 12 yr old blue spruce had an 8-10 foot circle of grass showing around it. Everything else was snow. Doesn't make sense to me, the manholes usually melt the adjacent snow first and most.
