Thanks to you both for your replies. I did exactly what you suggested. Wet trim down to final bud size, I even reduced the size of the larger buds to help them dry. I use a small storage room , buds placed in a hanging mesh drying rack, and a fan on high pointing at the wall, not directly on the drying rack, so the air was well circulated. Old man grower, you may recall that I posted several months ago about having to harvest a bit early and having to leave the buds to dry while I unexpectedly had to travel for a month. Same room, same conditions, same drying rack. The buds sat there for a month, and when I returned a month later no problems, no mold, jarred them up and they were fine. Same with last year's grow. This time around they started showing mold the very next morning and got progressively worse each day. I've been thinking about this nonstop for the last week. After posting my tale of woe this morning, the only thing I can figure is that the mold spores were already in the room before I had even starting the drying process and having the fan in the room circulated the existing spores. The onset of the mold was immediate (overnight). This is the only explanation I can deduce. This is the only incidence of a mold problem that I've had in over 10 years of growing. I'll have to disinfect the room and drying rack in time for my next harvest in two weeks and try again, fingers crossed! What do you think?
