Hate free zone

LuckyAcres, I think today is sad and extremely emotional for you, as it is for many. I do not know your circumstances, your ethnicity, your religion, the color of your skin, etc. I do want to give you emotional support. I do think though that you may be reading more into some the comments made on this thread, unless something was said and got deleted that I didn't see. I don't think anything hateful was said. Some were trying to lighten the mood, I think, not realizing you were being specific about the significance of today. ((hugs))

HE'S NOT MY PRESIDENT. I disown and denounce him categorically. I have seen nothing in him since the election to convince me that he has anyone else's interests at heart except his own and those of his cronies.

Some are saying to stop comparing him to Hitler, but I will not. He is Hitlerian. Now I'm not spewing hatred: I am stating my perspective. Agreed, Lucky, that pot legalization is not, in the big picture of what's happening to our planet, a top priority, but if the present administration were to start throwing Muslims, LGBTs, uppity women and Mexicans into ghettos or camps, I'll bet we'd get thrown in there, too.

A hateful, narcissistic, irrational leader is not simply unhealthy to democracy: he is fatal to it.

I beg to differ, Nartak: politics--as I understand that word--has direct impact on the world and on people. Now my impression is that very many participants on this forum know how to be honest with themselves (remember the thread about anxiety/depression?), but not everyone knows how to do it or sees the value in it. Here's an interesting take on just such a person:

No Title

Ok, I won't be surprised if I get cut out, but Ima put it up anyway. The new prez reminds me of Golum, who is an addict, so attached to his material "precious", that he has lost most of his humanity: he is selfish and hostile; he cares nothing for others except for those who cater to his addiction/narcissism. The way I read what Lucky wrote: this is a seriously sad and a sadly serious day; it makes a lot of our other concerns seem frivolous. I think that some of us really are afraid that very bad things will be allowd to occur--to minorities and various hated groups--and some of those things might be so destructive to the planet as well as life.

I'm not predicting the future: I am saying that I am sad and worried today. Concerns are very different from problems, and IT'S OK TO FEEL SAD AND WORRIED SOMETIMES!! Feelin bad is an inevitable part of being human--and then, hopefully, we deal with it as healthily as we can. I think weed helps a lot of us to do that.

The love and the hugs are welcome and needed. I am not comfortalbe with people who cannot own their own sadness & worry, or want to sweep it under the rug...

I don't intend to wallow in it. I hope that things unfold differently. But I'm not optimistic based on my understanding of what has happened so far.

Ditto all that you have said. I was timid and tiptoeing around the subject, not wanting to stir up trouble. I commend you for standing tall and calling out the dickhead that will now tarnish the halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. A building that I have proudly stood in front of in awe many times. I will not be doing that anytime during the next 4 years.
