alltatup I use a iron cast press, A simple kind were you can buy at any hardware stores. Or you could also look on Amazon, believe it or not at the beginning I used a tortilla press to flattening it.

I've been running bud through the grinder and putting about a gram worth in a 3/4" copper end cap and then compressing it with a simple C-clamp. Makes nice little disks that I use in my hookah. You light one side and it burns nicely across without having to relight. It's not as sweet as hash but I bet it would work nicely for it. Someone with some talent could even emboss the cap for a nice surface design.
