Harvesting questions from a beginner

So I inherited/rescued a few plants from my father. No telling what soil or fertilizer he was using or the even the strain, they showed some signs of not being healthy a few times in their early days. One was harvested way too early by me and I have some questions about the remaining one.

It has been outside flowering for a couple months now and I was wondering what the community thinks. The pistils are about 75% brown and the trichomes look cloudy, with very few turning amber. My concern is a few buds look like someone took a lighter to the end of them. The trichomes are completely brown and the leaves look brownish.

What does this mean? Is the plant reaching a point where it can be harvested or are these areas just dying?

The buds just don't look very thick to me but I've read that could caused by a variety of reasons including the strain. Thank you.

If you inherited it then you have no idea what or when it was fed ,I would be thrilled with whatever I could get, if the trics are partially amber then I would harvest
