Growing Weed Easily in Canada: Cannabis Laws & Links for residents & tourists

Hello friends! I've been seeing a lot of weed related news since Canada legalized cannabis for recreational use on October 17, 2018, so I thought I'd post this in case anyone's interested.

Navigating the laws of Growing Weed Easily in Canada:

With the exception of Manitoba and Quebec, residents of Canada may grow up to 4 cannabis plants per household - regardless of the number of adults in the home. Municipalities may pass additional bylaws that further restrict cultivation. Some have, so be aware of local bylaws. A landlord or condominium corporation may also prohibit use and/or growth in their buildings or on their properties. This can include smoking of all substances including cannabis as well as non-smoking consumption of cannabis (for example, vaping) and growing cannabis plants. In Saskatchewan for example, renters or condo owners can only grow cannabis if allowed by their landlords/condo boards. Residents of Manitoba and Quebec are prohibited from growing cannabis unless they have a Health Canada issued certificate to grow medical cannabis for personal use. This certificate will indicate how many plants can be grown at a time. In my case, my doctor prescribed 1 gram per day of dried flowers, so my Health Canada certificate allows for growing a maximum of 5 plants at a time (not sure how that's calculated). Here are some links for your browsing pleasure - stay safe!

Recreational use:

Generally speaking, a person of legal age (tourists included) can have a maximum of 30 grams in their possession while in public. Legal age is either 18 or 19, but Quebec is in the midst of changing the law to age 21, making it the most conservative province.

Where to buy (not a complete list, current legal age is 18 or 19):

I’m still on the fence on whether I should flee America, but I do know where I’m going! I want to live somewhere south of Calgary growing hemp for research! How are the Hemp laws? Pretty open?

Unfortunately it seems as though I’m going to at least start a farm in America before I go to Canada. Mainly because I can’t use any seed, I have to use their licensed seed stock.
