Back in the mid 70's my buddy said to me try this,.. naturally I asked whats that, he like many says its 'Weed'
Later that night I lit up and had the best night sleep ...Ever!
See in Europe back then only the French had connections to weed via the Moroccan and North Africans in Hash,
seeds and flower was impossible, tho the UK did have many connections in this area much had gone the way of their empire
and British hash is impossible unless, RICH or you were in the Kush(Hindu Kush mountains) or at least in Swat Valley in Afghanistan

All we had in Europe was the north African hash the best at that time was from Lebanon..
so I wanted to grow I annoyed every dealer I knew and then some for ideas

That weekend I went to every pet store I could find and bought pounds and pounds of bird seed
and spent the rest of the week picking out all the hemp seed I could find (Hemp seed is easy to recognize)
I soon had a jar, and took the remainder to the park and fed the birds ...that was fun
up to then the only thing I had grown was tomatoes, so thats how I grew them out
in little cups one carton full please ...thats 250 solo cups ...man! ..lol

for the life of me I didn't understand this lighting thing so left the lights 5ft shop lights on 24/7 on(10 pairs from a local factory)
they grow fast, a friend jumped in to help ..but was soon apparent that we need brains behind this again
I asked everyone what a short day plant was ..eventually it sunk in, and lucky we were hitting winter to so things work out

we cross bred the smelliest plants and again about 4 times if I remember correct.. just on smell was the only tool
we made lots of mistakes as that was the idea, back then I was into Kaos theory(it was big) so were the plants
the cops were onto us word had got out, and we had made no sells either that annoyed me much
eventually we split the new good seeds amongst us and split just as the cops drove up

as a guess the THC would have been around 3-4% at best but was still enough to have a blast
my buddy died later in a shoot out with the cops...he had less than 1/4 gram on him
I left for Morocco

Good story, where there’s a will there’s a way. Why did you not make a trip to the hash making countries back then to score some seeds?
 
Yes Blond Lebanese Hash seemed to be more prevalent on the west coast of Canada back in the 70's than getting a 'lid ' of marijuana.

Later I made many trips down south ...my mind was far from seeds, about the early 1990s? the Morrocans bought in many seeds from Pakistan
an attempt to keep up with products from the middle east, and some flower was coming in from the states too but hash was the seen
 
Good read! I didn’t start growing until the mid 90’s but still, all I basically had was High Times articles and some advice from my buddy’s dad but he grows outdoors which I quickly realized not everything he does will work for my grow. With the internet, there’s a endless amount of knowledge plus you can order excellent seeds online now. Imagine how much more potent strains will continue to become.
 
Morocco is a nice country! Been going there the last few years with my friends😆. This is where I learned to make proper hash myself.
In Denmark the main stuff the majority smokes is Hash. The first joint I smoked was a hash joint.
and it was and still is fucking cheap to buy good quality hash 😎
 
It was '85- '86 we couldn't git a drop of flower in N. Utah not even the Mexican seed filled bale smoke. It was blonde Lebanese or black tar hash or nothin. One day a buddy & me hit "The Store" the only head shop N of SLC & smack dab in the center of the store was a rack of High Times with a beautiful cola with the headline, "The drought is over!!!" Weed never got hard to find again but from that day forward "lids" ceased to exist & 1, 2 & 4 finger bags became the norm. Then scales became easier to acquire & you know the rest lol.

I miss true hash. Burn on the end of a pin.... catch the smoke in a small glass.... or true hash oil..... paint a paper, let it dry then roll a joint. Today's butane bull shit is just that.... BULL SHIT. Maybe I'm old.
 
The best hash I never had in my hands came from Morocco. Not the hash I made myself. But Morocco! One thing they do very well there is the hash making 😂
And the food !
 
Great story, I can relate. 1978, 79 high school.Smoking pit , head shop across road. Practically ever body my age was smoking weed. Yet get caught they would nail you to the cross, Devil weed. I had a very good weed connection. Got dry and my man handed me 1 OZ of Lebaneseion Blond , on the front of course. $100 . What am I supposed to do with this? weed was 25 to 35 oz. Nobody's gonna pay that much for a gram. everyone at high school was real happy that week. One time thing.That's the best hash I ever seen, one chunk.to this day I've not seen any Hash as good.
