Growing a couple of plants in the closet of the spare bedroom

I'm in love with a green haired Goddess :D

A short while back I began toying with the idea of growing a couple of plants in the closet of the spare bedroom. What was intended to be just a couple of Home Depot pails, some dirt and a light has blossomed into something quite different. I'm going coco/perlite under a 300 Watt LED and supplemental CFL's. At this point, I'm out more than $400 Canadian. I credit GWE for giving me the confidence to do this.

My order of White Widow Auto's arrived from Crop King Seeds two days ago. Within the hour, I had them in a glass of water to begin the journey. It took 8 hours before I could get two of the three to sink. The remaining one only went down after about 12 hours. Off to a rocky start. I arose this morning to a bone dry paper towel that was so lovingly caressing their tender shells last night. I was crushed. I'm not one to believe in miracles. But, I'm not a quitter either. I placed the plate with the paper towel on a heating pad and made certain to check every hour on the hour. Took this photo minutes ago. Sorry it isn't the greatest shot.

If all goes well over the next few days, I will have the Genesis of my first journal and my first ever home bred meds.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better over the coming months.

cheers,
Gears

Thanks, alltatup. Wish I could say she/he was mine. It's something I was sent some time ago. It always makes me smile. Although, my first Dobie would let you do that kind of thing to her. She was the sweetest creature that ever lived.

We have a lot of animal lovers on this forum; there was a thread last winter where many of us posted pics of our puppies and kitties; don't know what it had to do with growing weed, but it was fun!!!

Welcome to the forum! I've found the paper towel method works better if you put another plate on top, just to keep everything from drying out, and it also keeps the seeds in the dark :) Your new babies look good, can't wait to see how they grow!

Thanks NebulaHaze Sadly, things seem to have stalled on 2 of the 3 seeds. I can't sit on them another day like a bird on a nest. Have to go to work. So, I took a chance and planted all 3.

After weeks of reading virtually everything you've written and gathering the things I would need, the anticipation has been building toward this day like a little kid waiting on Santa. I still have 2 seeds left. If I don't see signs of life in the next few days, I'll try the double plate method you suggest.

Thank you for all you do for us!

Still learning the ropes on the forum. I don't think I can post a pic in a "comment".

NebulaHaze rockman First off - thank you for the support!

Walked into Command Central (spare bedroom) a few minutes ago with faint hope that one of the babies was strong enough to make it. From several feet away, I saw something that made my heart skip a beat. Could it be? My spirits have been lifted. The other 2 siblings had stopped growing their tap root. So, I am hopefull but not optimistic.

cheers,
Gears

UPDATE: May 10th

So, I can't get this song out my head this morning. :) Hot Chocolate

See two new pics added. I haven't used this camera in years. These are quick and dirty shots. Lighting could have been better.
