HELP! Grow tent light on colas

Tent newbie here .... first grow with LEDs ... flowering well, but I'm wondering how far down on the colas does the light need to actually GET to the lower buds - i.e. do the top sets of leaves fatten up buds lower down even if the light doesn't actually touch the lower buds? Would appreciate any wisdom on this. Love this site. I got the big green book but have barely looked at it after finding Nebula Haze.

yup plant training is the way to go...this way allows the bud sites on the lower parts of the plant get some decent light too. The fan leaves are like solar collectors for the plant...they supply the energy (light) and then you add nutrients (vitamins/food)
