Grow Light ?

I'm not to sharp on grow lights, so please excuse my dumbassness, on the subject.
On Quantum Boards for example, how come they can't make one that puts out the same light all over the board, instead of just in the middle.
Example, 70k, lux, in the center, 40k, on the edges of the board, Whats going on there? How come it can't be the same all over the board?
We got a good buzz going on this morning, an I got to thinking, an it ain't always good, when I do some thinking, lol
Thanks for any help.

Imagine light emitting from a single diode. The light starts at a single point then forms a conical shape as it travels outward. When the diodes are surrounding other diodes (like at the center of the board) the point of that conical shape shares the same space with the other diodes emitting conical shapes light photons. The sharing of that space effectively increases the light intensity for that specific area.
As you reach the outer edges of the board, the diodes have more space and less contribution from the other diodes. The conical shape of light coming from each diode is more independent, and doesn’t share space with anything beyond the board itself. So the edges are less intense with lux.
