The Silver Haze (Clone) is seriously rocketing off because of the Topping, which is so impressive... The Higgs Boson Haze (Seed) is really bushing out and making itself squat and tight for its leaves, were the Silver Haze is becoming more long and lanky. The cuttings which were taken are appearing as if though they are looking up with continued spraying of foliar CX Clone Start... truthfully, just as soon as they push roots or I am even thinking of today starting to spray them with Magic Green to see what happens.

Thank You, I'm honestly very confident in the clones taking off believe it or not... I am about to try something new I think, the more I think about it, the more confident in trying spraying them with Magic Green instead of the CX Clone Start, it says I can use it on clones... I just am not sure if they mean newly rooted clones or not... time for a little trial and error.
 
I took another look at the cuttings and the leaf cuttings... I know the risks, I know the rate of clone failure for both myself and others, and I've decided I'm going to make the gamble... I've long stuck with CX Clone Start because when I was having issues with clones not pushing out roots fast enough to root before dying, I did turn to it, and it was great and I had clones rooting in less time before they died and greatly increased my chances of cloning. When I switched over to Root Tec, from Clone X I had better results with pushing roots in much less time in the cloning setup I am using, again I was very happy with the switch as it really made a huge difference for me. Recently I was looking up a new fertilizer I was trying and saw someone's results from a Grow Journal someplace for Cultured Solutions and Green Magic... I was so impressed I bought some of it to give a try and see what I thought of this Green Magic.

Up to that point I've always favored the foliar spraying with CX Clone Start, but hands down in trying it with this new round of plants as I was begging for some sort of a miracle to help get these plants up and going... so I've been trying it. I will happily admit that I can seriously tell the more I spray it the more the plants are taking off... I'm now up to 4-6 foliar sprayings a day, since the lights are on 6/2 lighting three times a day... Yes, 6-hours of light, followed by 2-hours of darkness and I'm using Green Magic as a foliar spray 4-6 times a day now. I should or would have expected burning of the plants, I am seriously pushing the fertilizers to the recommended doses and using water which is confirmed at 980-ppm (very high in Cal & Mag) and on top of that keep in mind I am still adding Cal-Mag and Epsom Salt on top of that... among other things... which as most should be able to tell is not recommended... yet you can blow up the photos... there is no leaf tip drying or damage, the leaves are getting HUGE... and the plants are rocketing off... so if I am doing something wrong it should be showing up negatively by now.

So okay whatever Magic Green is doing I'm going to give it a run for its money, the newly taken cutting appears to have rooted is my best guess... it has been long enough, Root Tec only takes me 2-4 days to root on average. I'm basing my guess the new cutting rooted because day-1 for it, within a couple of hours the leaves drooped and were hanging. My first thought raise the humidity and PRAY... I knew whatever happened in the next 24 hours would determine those cutting's fate. Until yesterday, I was spraying them every few hours with CX Clone Start, and I kept thinking... distilled water or CX Clone Spray... one way or the other I need to keep the humidity up there... if the foliar spray fell into the cutting water that was fine since the CX Clone Start is said to also be used in the water to also help promote the roots faster. All I really care is that the new cutting's take off and that I get more plants going from scraps than having nothing...

Yesterday/Today... I noticed the leaf cuttings don't look so well, no surprise there... but the tall cutting appeared to be faring through the heat of the day, and since I was unable to spray them for well over 12+ hours, that can only mean that that cutting has to be loving that foliar spray that much and the Yucca Root is helping that much... or that the cutting has taken roots. Well no matter I've sprayed the new cuttings with Green Magic, let's see if they will now take off like the other plants... I am super excited to see where and how this all takes off.
 
I just topped five plants for the first time, and the growth of the cola sites is amazing! I have them in a fairly small grow box, so I will probably let them go for another 5-7 days, and switch to flower. Aiming for 4 colas per plant.
 
I am seriously not even clear on what to say here... I wished I'd taken photos if I'd known this was going to happen...

When I took the cutting, I cut off the lower leaves as we all know to do, of the leaves taken off I eyed a couple which looked to be the best of them and a similar size, and I gave them the cloning gel same as the cutting and stuck them in a Rapid Rooter. Now my cutting is sticking out past the Rapid Rooter a bit because I got two nodes in the gel on that one. Up to this point I seriously earlier did not even think the leaves were going to survive as I wrote my last comment, they were laying flat and spread out along the 'ground level' the cutting is the only one in which had leaves picking themselves up towards the light and looking like it stood a prayer of survival.

I went back to look to honestly look for signs I needed to start washing the cuttings with distilled water if the Magic Green turned out to be promoting any negative effects. Instead I see the two leaves actually having picked themselves up off the ground level, since maybe 20-30 minutes after having been cut and put into the same Rapid Rooter because I honestly as we all know the chances of their survival are next to none. I never seriously thought Magic Green was going to be anything near to what I am seeing for results, I hate to ever start promoting a product beyond this is what I use and this has worked or not worked out for me... But this stuff is really starting to look very promising as something I will firmly get behind if it really keeps proving itself like this as more time and experiences with it come.

Oh and to answer a question I'd gotten:

The reasoning I am using increased Epsom Salt is because of the LED's I have are very powerful which is not the case with all LED's as there is a HUGE difference in brands and who really stacks up to what they claim compared to others. Side by side comparisons on YouTube are the best way to honestly figure it out, to put into perspective how bright they are... I can seriously bleach leaves completely white, and for those of you wondering NO, I am not counting this as the Hash Tips either, I do get those as well on a good portion of my plant, but this is actual leaf bleaching from the intense LED's. How can I claim to know this... I had one LED light, and replaced it with two more powerful one's the next size up... and in turn in a couple of days to a weeks time in VEG I had leaves turn 100% white and continue to grow... later in FLOWER I would develop all white buds, which I assumed then was just light bleached buds. However what really got me was at the end of the flowering I read an article on Hash Tips in High TImes and compared what I had to what they called Hash Tips.

So because of the powerful LED's are more powerful than the sun outside, and I am reflecting so much light back thanks to Ocra on the walls, I started having issues with Mag previously, and I've ran into issues with not having enough Cal-Mag because of using OminA by RAW Solubles, because of what all it does for the plants in regards to the transfer of the calcium ions. Want to really know a lot more look up Harley Smith on YouTube, he will explain it in his NPK Univeristy videos as he really explains all the different one's and what it all does. He also brings up in a lecture about the issue with Mag under LED lighting, so I added a little Epsom Salt that day and it fixed my issue I was having at the tim, which I thought was something else. From there I learned when my plants start having an issue with needing more Cal-Mag and Epsom Salt and continue to try to get it all dialed in better by keeping careful track and notes.

I write as much as I do at times because every detail of what I do, why I do it, the thoughts, reasonings, products I am using, etc... I will later look back on it and compare notes and numbers and see when I was happier or not happier and dial down what is working or not working for me. I have sometimes even looked back to realize when I've made a mistake which later lead to other issues all because of my notes and ramblings... thus why I put them all into here.
 
Thank You alltatup my normal grow journal is all hand written in detail, not just about this one garden, but all of them outside as well... I keep track of every pest, if I have it or someone else in the area near me, I write a book as I try to keep track of all kinds of stuff. Like when I got aphids for the first time inside I was able to trace it back to a specific tree and even caught the error in my entry notes of how I screwed up and brought them inside. In the end I found what I did wrong, changed how I handle the two environments, from that point forward I shower and change clothes before coming anywhere near the other plants inside, and since the cycled maintenance I found another issue with dust getting through a few places which helped me to make better decisions on where air leaks are and how to best fix them, even found a filter I once thought highly of was letting in the finest of dust which was more powdery than a woman's makeup powder with the BIG feathery puff. It's the only thing I can think to compare it too, I had to wet it just to clean it air drafts once the filter was off would stir it into the air it was so fine. I ended up deciding on trying the HEPA carbon air filter for my intake next to curb that issue.

Some growers just make some plants grow and are happy with the results whatever they are, some I've known try far out weird to the point of stupid experiments, and still others I've seen can't even get a plant past the seedling stage without killing it. I am never happy as a grower, I take care of gardens of fruit trees, bushes, and plants, I am always trying to learn as much as I can because the better I can grow my own food with the better flavors and tastes the more I'm going to enjoy that next meal. I care if I lose a single plant because I can't just clone it again and still bear fruit in enough time for my growing season. When I came to learn about cannabis back in the day it was for the single reason to learn about another plant to better help me understand the plant kingdom, I had no idea how it would seriously open my eyes to learning everything I needed to know to do amazing things in my gardens. I became a cannabis growing expert before I ever planted my first seed, because I love to read and absorb information like a sponge on a daily basis,

At one point I had people question how much could someone who's never grown a plant really know about a plant, and I've held my ground with them... Tomatoes and cannabis are so closely related, and I've been raising various strains of tomatoes for years. One of the changes I made in coming over to learn cannabis was keeping a grow journal, I never did it as a gardener before that point, but as newbie's were always being asked for the basics, I started keeping track of everything. Once I started doing that, I started seeing when plants did better when I watered them at different times of the day, I saw when I was using what fertilizers I would see different results after different periods of time, all these things before I just took as being the way a plant grows, I suddenly got educated on thanks to cannabis growers. As I was always so willing to learn from whoever was willing to teach me what they knew and I could read in books which seemed more scientific I have learned the ropes over the years one might say. In all my years I have painfully learned the devil is in the details... I can see something at one point and believe one thing, look back days later see it was something completely different, learn from my mistake and change it. I try to keep track of every detail, every thought, every question relating to the plants I have when I make my notes usually at the end of the day or when I have time the following day for the day previous. My grow journals are books, but I thankfully can look back and remember lessons learned, what products worked I thought so well... until... and then why I stopped and won't go back to them.

If Magic Green takes off those leaves being rooted, I am seriously going to do more trials with it for clones, and if it still holds up then I am trying the CX Clone Start in the water of the cloning tray. Either it's going to work to do better than the Magic Green being used in combination with it or I'm not going to buy anymore of it once this is gone, I have been so impressed to this point I question why I didn't try this sooner. I know one person who swears by Home and Garden's, says its worth the price... and so on... and then I looked at the price at the cheapest place I know of... OMG (Voice in Angry Birds who says it) and I was thinking that had best be some of the most truly amazing smoke you have ever enjoyed in your entire life because you are dying and want to have the best in the end for those prices for the full lineup. I very reluctantly bought this one bottle of theirs ONLY because of that person's grow journal complete with photos of Magic Green and Cultured Solutions and I was so blown away and impressed I wanted to see if it really works like that for myself, because I am in need of a miracle right now for plant growth rates.

I got my severe brain injury the beginning of March this year, killed every single plant I had growing within a short time after... wiped it all out... somehow got left with what I now have which is getting close to being a month old now, and look at where they are now thanks to Magic Green. For having to try to figure everything out all over again and try to piece everything back together thanks to detailed grow journals I have from previous I am able to get back up to speed rather quickly to get back on top of things, remembering why I did the things I did, when I did them and how they've been working out for me. So thankfully all these ramblings somehow do help me in the end, if only I get to teach myself if I forget it again sometime soon again.
 
GT, I know you know this, but the injury wasn't that long ago!! You have come a long, long way since then, and it will only get better and better from here. I feel deeply for you and how challenging this has been, but I see your grow journals as the exercise you are giving your brain as it continues to heal. It's like a form of rehab therapy. We know that brain workouts and challenges are very good for fending off senility and all that junk.

That nails it spot on!! Sometimes I will sit for a couple of hours, examining my plants, thinking about what I've learned, what I need to review and refresh, and what I need to apply. It took me around three weeks of staring at 4 landrace sativas in my grow box to finally make the decision to remove the three that were lagging behind and let the strongest one take up all the space in the box. She is covered in buds right now, spread out over the entire box. This is the beginning of week 11 of flower, and I anticipate another 4-6 weeks before she's ready to harvest. I continue to have a problem with nitrogen toxicity although I have used nutes way below the recommended dose. Even though I just changed the reservoir an hour ago, after sitting there and looking at her for a while, I decided that I need to flush her, so I will drain the res. if a couple of hours and give her a weekend flush.

You are a horticultural scholar--both reader and writer, and you use it to your best advantage. I also find myself thanking my lucky stars as a cannabis grower for the training I went through in graduate school, which made my research/analytic skills razor sharp. Then the fun comes in as we continue to stretch and stretch the intellect with each new realm we investigate. Plants are amazing "beings"--I have always thought so, and have cultivated succulents and various garden flowers for many years. They ARE beings to me, and I love their vibrations.
 
Before I forget, on your Nitrogen toxicity... perhaps you might consider looking at the Nitrogen you are using... In one of videos by NPK University, Harley Smith outlines the three types of Nitrogen, Ammonium-Nitrogen, Nitrate-Nitrogen, and the 3rd is Aero-Nitrogen (I think its called). All I remember specifically is when Cherry Pie had an issue with wanting Nitrogen in flower, if a friend gave it the Nitrogen he had it was toxic, and ended up buying RAW's Nitrogen, the Ammonium Nitrogen as its the kind a plant in flower can handle, because Nitrates in flower will kill a plant or something else really bad... if only I could completely remember. I just know I have that Nitrogen on hand for those times in flower I can find the plants in need of a boost of Nitrogen.

I've been a few places prior to this and found myself in trouble with the Mod's for my long posts and keeping track of specific products I am using, etc... as they claim its advertising. For me it's the only way I can look back at when I was using Fox Farm and thought OMG this is so much better than the one I had previously, and then when someone I trusted told me Cultured Solutions was new to the market and wanted a side by side trial I was willing to give it a go... and when those results turned my head, I've gone back many times to look at the changes and differences. Since Cultured Solutions has been new to the market, they have changed their feeding schedules so much I have no other way to compare on which feed chart has been working the best for me as they continue to try to dial in their own products more for the cannabis hydroponic grower. Then when I am adding and playing around with things like OminA which changes the calcium ion transfer in the plants from 1 to 1 ratio, to a degree that we need to reinvent the scale to figure out if its million, or trillions of calcium ion transfers happening because it's too many for the current scale to measure.

At another point I got Cal-Mag, and then another time I got Coco-Cal, I assumed like most of us, one was equal the other... What I didn't know until later when I did some side by side comparisons of why my plants reacted completely differently did I then find Coco-Cal has Mag added and is different because I didn't see any nitrates there as I was seeing in the Cal-Mag. Thus I started using Cal-Mag in Veg when the plants need the nitrates, and then in flower when I cut off the nitrates I switch over to the Coco-Cal without the nitrates to keep up with the OmniA's increased plant response for the higher needs of calcium and Mag. The Native American's have a belief that if you do not grow your own food and medicine you will lose touch with the things which matter most in life, and that you do not need to listen to others to learn... but only need to sit quietly and listen to all of the things around you speaking to learn. So I try so hard to listen to the plants, watch how they react within minutes and hours after I do something, I monitor them closely for changes, much like someone would watch a person's mood change to try to read how each plant reacts. I often name my plants, as then each one is special to me, for they are not just medicine but are each one special enough that I care about its entire life cycle, and I do my best to see it through every step of the way to ensure it has the best life it can have and will be remembered when its time has come.

You are 100% correct my grow journals have always been therapeutic for me, as much as the gardens and plants themselves are to me, I've even been able to convince a professional I see of this as well because of how it truthfully affects me to have or not have this in my life. Even now I have to go see another professional for more tests because of my brain injury, they know where I was at prior to my brain injury, they know where I should be today with my brain injury and yet as you and others have pointed out I am not close to where they think I should be given the seriousness of the multiple tests like CT-Scans and MRI's, etc... Which has somehow triggered questions relating to my cannabis use, because even prior to this I was primarily only smoking White Widow, the same strain they are always talking about when it comes to "medical cannabis research" as it is the only strain they have been legally permitted to test. Even now they are calling for a much broader testing grounds on other strains, as only one strain is simply not enough to make the claim on all the strains of cannabis. I've even had mine tested so they know the THC-CBD, etc... I remember enough to know I had to have it tested twice because they didn't believe it the first time and believed the results were an error.

They want me to sit down and do a bunch of brain tests to test my IQ and things again, all kinds of stuff because I have had numerous head injuries in the past, some to the points of being life threatening life or death things, and yet even now with this latest one it has opened a door of a lot more questions than answers. Since my previous tests over the years are all on file, etc... they want to compare things to see how I do having smoked cannabis for so many years, having so many head injuries, etc... I feel like a lab rat, and yet somehow I feel good about it because at least somehow the specialists want answers and are looking for the links to try to understand something I honestly just assumed they would have not believed and moved on from to the next person. But I guess this is how those "professionals" try to get into the medical media for their next new discovery of something is by paying attention and looking for that next person who is different that they hope to understand.

I have watched the pH drop from 6.10 to 6.00, the PPM's are 154, and the water temp is 81.8... it is 83.0 air temp... The plants are booming at a growth rate which is amazing, I need to start taking photos of them everyday or even a couple of times a day if these growth rates keep up. Last night I believed I smelled the cannabis, but wrote it off as a nice dream because it smells like freshly harvested cannabis... and I haven't got the carbon filter on because they are small plants in Veg. Today there can be no mistake the plants are smelling something fierce and sooner than later need to be moved to the Red System at the next water change, it is such a serious issue I'm considering pushing the water transfer over with minimal loses just to try to bring this very real issue under control. I will be looking at remedies until I can make more upgrades to the Red System to bring more aspects of it online.
 
Wow, you got in trouble on other forums for expressing yourself in your own way... That's funny, in a sad kind of way. I'm glad you found your way to a forum that doesn't limit your expression.

The nitrogen toxicity: This stuff is pretty much over my head. I've only been growing for a year (on July 21 it will be 1 year), and I have a long way to go with the acquisition of the technical and scientific knowledge. I'm growing a landrace hybrid pure sativa strain that is infamous for its pickiness with nutrients. I have consistently used less than half the recommended dose of nutes. I probably should have kept it at 25-30% of the recommended level. I am giving her a flush this weekend, and I saw the leaves perk up almost immediately from that close, intimate observation that you spoke of. I totally agree with you: it's very important to be as in tune, as emotionally/spiritually committed to the plants, to each one, as you can be. I think if I had a religion it would be the worship of my cannabis plants, because what they do and what they produce is so extraordinary.

Let me clarify one thing. You wrote below, "as you and others have pointed out I am not close to where they think I should be"... GT, I have absolutely no idea "where you should be"; I have only wished you well and hoped for a speedy recovery. I know nothing about what happened and I don't know you!! Perhaps if I had known you for years, then I could detect differences accurately, but that's not the case. My only desire has been to wish you well and to cheer you on in your process of recovery.

This is probably one of the very best, most therapeutic things you can do. Not everyone knows how to do it, not everyone hears anything that the natural world is constantly whispering to us. So if it suits you, let the scientists measure away and run their tests! Just please try not to have any more brain injuries!!!!
 
Well to put it into perspective... "they tell me someone with a brain injury as serious as mine" well let me put it to you another way, I recently had a friend involved in a car wreck, very similar brain injury as to mine, she has now been in a coma for about a month, she is now in a long term care facility where they expect she will be for the rest of her life. Afterwards I couldn't remember my own name much less others, couldn't dress myself, couldn't feed myself, seriously I was as helpless as a small child, they told us to expect for me to get around 20%-60% back of what I used to be able to do as an "average" and that it would take 6-months for all the different parts of my brain and cerebellum to be reduced in swelling, and I can expect this world's worst migraine headache until then. I'm told by the Neurosurgeon I should have been admitted into the ER and then ICU that night for him to drill a hole in my skull to release pressure, and then put me into a medically induced coma like my friend is now in as they now monitor her brain swelling, the same thing he told us he should have done to me.

Instead of being as helpless as they expected I can appear "normal" but I have issues with things like not knowing right/wrong, right/left, memory issues and other things, but for the most part I'm getting better in all the ways I wasn't previously. I am told it should have taken more time for me to get to this point and that I'd be doing great if I had all this back in a year's time from the day of the brain injury... but it was March 11th this year and I'm already bouncing back in a lot of ways, and everyday I keep fighting to turn more of the lights on inside my brain by having to relearn things everyday. This is by far not my first serious brain injury, but only one of too many... so they want me to see these specialists who deal in brain injuries like mine to try to figure out all this stuff out. At the end of the day I just want to be back to myself, and yet am counting my blessings I am even on my feet and not put into a coma, the one and only good thing about not knowing I had medical insurance that night.

The one Silver Haze leaf looks as if though the Magic Green was too much for it and thus it appears to have started the process of death, possibly do to a combination of heat and temps, the 2nd leaf is also showing signs of having issues, when I checked the Rapid Rooter it is on the dry side, but still has plenty of moisture, wet it again. Silver Haze Cutting is very perky, looks and appears as if though it should have roots feeding it, but nothing out the bottom or the sides of the Rapid Rooter to show any rooting happening, Magic Green really perked it up and has given the impression on that one that I need to keep giving it the Magic Green foliar spraying on a 1-2 times a day basis, and switch up with CX Clone Start, and other foliar mix.

The Silver Haze (Clone) appears to really be much happier for taking its cutting, the Higgs Boson Haze is now caught up to the point I can now take a cutting from it to start cloning it as well, which is why I have now divided the Grow Journal into two of the three systems which are as follows and what each does.

Yellow System- (T-5 HO) Clones, Cuttings, Seedlings, Mother Plants
Blue System - (P-300, Platinum LED)- Veg

I agree with you in hindsight it is rather funny how much trouble I have found myself in being in other Forums, for all kinds of things, which being here you'd find hard to believe. Like one of the biggest one's I usually get railed on, is "my long informative posts" because as it is point out to me, anything longer than 2-4 lines and nobody is interested in reading it, people just want a yes/no answer, and it to handed to them on a silver platter so they can get on with their lives. I really struggled with this one as a former forum Mod where they charged people money to learn to grow, but then only taught you the basics for a few HUNDRED US-$$$. I would also find myself in trouble for quoting anything that wasn't in the information they sell you, and didn't want people knowing more than what they sold you to learn, because it was seen as to complex for the new/average grower. Which lead me to publicly disagreeing with other Mod's when they would say things which goes against the books and sold information I know to be 100% factual and true, but I was suppose to keep my mouth shut and let the customers learn from theirs and others mistakes, without me disagreeing with another Mod publically. Other places complained I wasn't allowed to keep track of specific products and things, as they saw it as advertising; or I couldn't tell someone thinking of getting a MARS LED, to go look at a video on YouTube called "We Are Mars Hydro". Because in the video by Mars Hydro, they come right out and say "our customer's complained of electrical fires and we were concerned too, so we looked and found the issue and upgraded to a standard industry plastic so now no more fires". Or in another part they try to show the wires don't catch fire as some customers complained and showed the wire against a heat gun, see the coating melts away... no fire... WTF?!?!? How do they think the arc of electricity across happens which starts the fire? The video went on and on like that, showing you how they came out with a new Mars LED model at one point, but after growers complained the old model was better, they stopped making and selling the new model... When did I the customer want to become the guinea pig for a company to product test something they don't even know if its better than the previous version? So I voiced my thoughts to anyone looking to buy that company's lighting, which happened to be a sponsor in that forum, so I got a warning and the boot when I argued I felt the issues should not be hidden or covered up just because they are a sponsor. I even further argued since Mars Hydro was dumb enough to make the video and admit it all themselves, I felt it was only fair to tell people to watch their own video's and see for themselves what kind of a company they are.

To be honest I'd given up on even helping people in the Forums whether I was being paid for it or not, because I refuse to support a product and be told to lie and push it because they are a sponsor or because the company I am working for sells it. If I try a product, I like it and I firmly believe in it, then yes I'll promote it, sell it door to door, and whatever else... but I won't lie about it and I won't have my name mean less because I'm peddling junk to make money. When I came here it was only because I was doing some research and found an article by Nebula Haze, which in turn led me to the Forums here... When I made my first post, I expected to get in trouble and soon get the boot like the other Forums I've been at and worked in... instead I got a compliment from Nebula Haze and I decided I'd start making posts to help others here and there...

I've been into gardening most of my entire life, I've got quite a bit of experience going back generations under me, back to when the settlers would outline their gardens with rocks... Some people think it's because it would keep the snakes out, others have other ideas behind the reasonings for it.... but the real truth behind it is simply because the rocks contain minerals your plants need and back in the day it was like fertilizer. When the rain hits the rocks, it breaks off minerals and adds it into the soil, making the plants grow bigger. To see how true this was, I dug a trench 4-feet wide and 4-5 feet deep only a couple of feet away from a row of various flowers I had been growing for a few years at that point, they never really changed from year to year, so they were a good place to try this. When it rained the water filled the trench to the top before spilling over and going elsewhere, to my surprise over the summer that year those plants would continue to change the color green the leaves were, first a brighter healthier green and then over the next couple of years they would turn a rich dark green, in the end that trench of rocks would cause trees, bushes and flowers to all take off wildly, and it would even work to somehow purify the rainwater too because I added sand to the mix to fill in the spaces between the rocks over time. All I know is I listened to those who taught me growing up, did my own experiments to see if and why it worked and tried to make it all make sense in the end with science... only to end up a better gardener for it.

When it comes to what I know and how much I know about plants, I feel as if though I know a good bit enough to be able to help others, but for me I help others because I want too, not because I get paid to do it. Here I am just another member, nobody special, and I'm 100% fine with it... I don't even use the same screen names at the different places I've been and I just switched my profile photo tonight so nobody can link my above comments to my other accounts other places to have an issue for my comments here today.

I have longed for a safe place like here to speak freely, help others, and keep a decent grow journal of facts, information and data on the grow(s), because like right now I am planning on making some more upgrades to the Red System before putting plants over there again, so I need to know exactly what I changed between this grow and the last one in there, so I can see if those changes helped or hurt the yield and quality in the end. When I write things out it also helps me to remember them, a trick a learned at a young age in school, so I put things in there I learn which I am considering or learning about to also help me stay on track. Like one which I was relearning recently was on PGR's (Plant Growth Regulators)..

A friend I know swears by Snow Storm Ultra, it's a PGR and what it does is makes the buds appear to be coated in sugar from the trichomes... bag appeal a major plus... but my first question was does it then improve quality? In the end not only did I find out that all it does is make it look prettier, but I begin to really question at what cost does it do it? So we did a test, I did my thing the ways I do it, my friend did their thing their way... and in the end we sat down to smoke and compare results... I had a better yield, a better quality, and an overall better product in every way... now they are making changes to some things in hopes of trying to peg the points I've been able to now prove I can peg repeatedly every time... I can't say Snow Storm Ultra is a bad product, but simply clearly not something I feel I need and it's not given me any reasoning to think it would help in any way, but my research did convince me I will stay away from all PGR's!
 
I am sure glad you are on this forum, GT! This is certainly the place to speak freely about everything we are doing with our plants. And I'm certainly glad you are not in a coma; it's very sad about your friend who was in a car wreck. For heaven's sake, NO MORE BRAIN INJURIES!!! Swathe your head in cotton balls if you have to.

So very interesting about the rocks in the outdoor garden: those settlers certainly knew what they were doing.
 
Believe me I never want another head injury again in my life... Knowing my friend and knowing we are around the same age it truly pains me to realize just how close it came to that could have been me, instead of her. What made it worse we actually came up on the accident scene ourselves, so we saw it, and there was nothing I could do to help in any way, since I knew not one but both people in the wreck together. It's giving me a reasoning to really spend lots of time in the gardens lost...

Yeah those settlers learned by trial and error as I am often reminded, my great, great grandma rode the boat over here from the old country with her husband, the belt which tied her dress contained all the seeds for all the new crops here in the new world. She made the house from sod, walls I kid you not 6-feet thick of mud, sand, and manure mixed in with the grass/straw and then made into cobs and stacked. The walls needed to be thick because of the extreme cold, she was the medicine person, the mid-wife, she baked the coal miners their morning bread a nickel a loaf... she in turn passed all that knowledge down and in the end I even got the records of everything she knew and learned and everyone in the family since her.

That reminds me of the one putting charcoal like the fish aquarium charcoal you can buy loose in a box at Walmart for a few dollars, into the soil, especially at the bottom of a potted plant and watch it seriously take off. Since the charcoal is what cleans water in a Brita/Pur picture, it does the same for the plant and somehow it makes it take off for it. Also helps with root binding too, even learned how to do water cloning way back as a child from my Great Grandma, even my Grandma transformed her entire yard into a huge garden on every side of it. When it comes to knowing about plants I've got a few tricks up my sleeve for all kinds of issues and problems, but nobody would believe them until they tried them.
 
Nothing healthier than spending hours in the gardens lost... away from this insane world. I believe that no matter what happens, it should force us to be the very best we can be, and YOU, my friend, are certainly doing that. That's kind of my interpretation of karma.

Your great great grandma sounds like an amazing person. From what old country did she come? My grandparents came from Russia in the 19 teens, I don't know a lot about them, but I know they worked so hard throughout the depression to send their 5 children to college. An amazing story to me.
 
They came from Germany before the dirty 30's... back around the late 1800's to settle first in South Dakota, but the homesteading didn't pan out two places there, so they again moved the boxcar and cattle up into Surrey, North Dakota and struck coal and ended up coal mining with the locals around which generated the income. I actually have the only original photos of my Great, Great Grandma and Grandpa when they got off the ship in the new world. They spent what little they had because it meant so much to them to have made it across the sea to the new promise land where they were trying to escape the issues of food shortages there, is what I am told. My Grandma wrote down all the stories from all the years going back to her childhood, every lesson she learned, every person's stories that they told of their previous former lives up to that point, etc... she wrote it all down, said one day people will want to remember, need to remember the old ways. I couldn't agree with her more in today's world.

I am knowledgeable in both medicines of the old ways as well know the old time skills, people around me are still surprised I don't sell anyone anything, I will trade you for it, and I'm always willing to trade for the lower side of things. When the day comes I'm short people seem to remember that and everything always works out I get what I need, when I need it. I've taught a lot of people how to grow and garden over the years, but for me the best joy is when a child returns with bigger, better produce than I can grow that year and asks if this is okay? There is no greater joy in life than to see someone take what you can teach them and see them accel at in and be able to earn the respect of others for a talent they now posse because you took the time to teach it to them.
