Grow bag questions

Hi,

I am planning to use 3 gallon grow bags for my first soil grow (auto flower sour diesel) .

There are no holes in the bottom of the bags, should I add any?

Also should these be put on a rack above a saucer or can they be put directly on the saucer.?

Being new to this, I am not quite sure how watering to run-off works with fabric bags.

When you say "grow bag", I assume you mean cloth bags. If so, no holes are needed because the cloth breathes so to speak. Adding a rack does increase airflow, but not entirely necessary. When growing auto's , I have noticed that adding all the nutrients necessary for the plants to thrive before germinating helps. I use organic Dr. earth products. Some people fail to realize that autos need phosphate and potassium early on in their life cycle to thrive. Using organics allows the plant to utilize all N.P.K. elements when they are needed. So all you need to do is provide water and a top dressing at about week 4, and again at week 8.

Grow bags are fabric so no need for holes. Be careful watering or everything will pour right out the sides of the bags before soaking into the soil. I found these raised disc called Ups a Daisy I’ve been using so the roots aren’t sitting in standing water or you could rig up something so they’re elevated. I use a small wet dry vac, water to runoff then soak up any standing water. In 15-20 minutes I check again and suck up any remaining water.
