Any advice for when we have to leave from the cat 5 hurricane tryna figgur out how to keep my plant alive dureing thatlmao
 
I think if you sacrifice a virgin or chicken whichever is easier to find the hurricane might pass . I'm watching it too . All we can do is hope it swings south or heads north before too long . I've been through 5 so far and luckily no major damage lost 2 screen patios in 2 week back in 07 I think when we had 2 in a week . Good luck through this
 
Iv been here for 14 years now but with the baby dont want to test it if its that big but any ideas on how to keep a dwc system good dureing a hurricane ?
 
Get a battery operated fluid transfer pump. Should be able to find one at a auto parts store, for siphoning gas.

Stick both ends in res and let the water fall back in. I keep one just in case of electric outage. And batteries :)
 
At this point, unless you are planning on taking the girls with you there's nothing you can do but wait and see. After living in FL for 50 years I started to realize that Mother Nature is going to do WTF she wants to...
 
Yea i found some battery powered air pumps ill plug in befor i leave they will last 75 hours so as long as i wait intill last minuet to leave i can come back befor the pumps stop working and start takeing care of everything myself by just draining it and refilling and useing my windows for what little light will come through
 
Listen...if anyone is in the path of this storm...PLEASE GET OUT OF DODGE! This thing is nothing to screw around with! Forget the grow if you have to just get the hell out of it's path!

Yea iv had one of these but question is how long will the siphion pump run for continuous power i have mine which takes 2 D batterys but i dont see how it can oxygenate my water with me being out of state
 
You have it pumping out of the res and splashing back in. The waterfall effect and movement will give the water enough oxygen to keep them alive. You only need a drop of a few inches to get by.

How long the batteries will last I have no idea
 
I've gone thru a bunch of hurricanes myself, from where I live to when I worked offshore and they are pretty f-cking scary. So just be very careful. Like Jimmy Buffett said trying to reason with hurricane season is a Bitch. Be Careful
 
To determine the battery life length, you divide the amp hour rating by the amount of amps used.

In other words, a single d battery is rated at about 12-18 amp hours. (the rating is often in mAh which is amps x1000 so 12,000-18,000mAh)
If the device you are using draws 1 amp, then the battery will last for 12-18 hours.
If the device only draws 0.5 amps, then the battery will last for 24-36 hours.

Im just hopeing she can make it through this hurricane i know she may lose some yield due to low light from me haveing to angle her towards the window with the most light but my problem was air for the water but hell iv gotten billions of ideas just no cash to do anything right now sence my current project ran me into the dirt
