GORDO'S Main Line grow.

After harvesting two of the ML plants it seems that 3.5 oz is about the most that will come off these plants.
i think a lot of the low yield is due to the time of year i grew them. Buds need a lot of light to get big and heavy, this is the lowest light of the year.
so i think that was the problem. Last year when i got 10 oz off one plant,, i did it in the spring.
I will do another one this spring and post it here. And we will see how much more we can get.
Thanks to all for the encouragement and comments along the way.
See ya in the spring.

Since you put them outside in natural sunlight, it makes sense that could be the difference. Still I'll be happy to 3.5 off of one plant. Last grow (I have learned so much since then) I got about 2 oz. per plant.

Can't wait for your spring grow to begin!

Good morning everyone, and a happy new year to all.
just as a closing note i will answer some questions and add a few comments of my own.
The dehydrator,,, is a food dehydrator i bought off eBay for like $15 used.
For me it has a lot of advantages over hanging the colas with the buds attached.
The few times i hung the plants/colas to dry, it took 6 days before the stems would snap and i knew the buds were dry enough to jar.
They were hung in my tent so they would have lots of air moving over them and the smell would be drawn out the exhaust vent.
that method worked well but there is always a danger of bud rut deep inside the buds that you cant see until you trim it the second time.
Also the outer parts of the buds will dry before the inner part so you wind up with uneven drying of the buds.
now with the dehydrator, i trim the colas right down to the individual buds, and even cut the big buds into smaller ones.
This is a lot of work, but for me its the best way to insure there are no rotted buds or anything else that's not suppose to be in there.
I did fined 3 buds that needed to be discarded due to rut this last time.
the dehydrator has a fan in it and a heat control. I keep the heat off, so it's just blowing air over the buds from the bottom to the top tray.
it has 5 trays to it and everyday i rotate the bottom tray to the top of the stack to even out the drying process.
I do this for about 3 days before the buds are dry enough to jar. I find the buds have been very evenly dried and uniform in size.
hope you will give it a try. As a side note,, during the curing process, i dump the jars of buds into a small bin and flip them around so they get evenly mixed.
i leave them out for an hour before putting them back in the jars. I do this 3 times a day for the first week, then only once a day for the next few weeks and i find them cured enough to smoke (vape in my case).
enjoy.

Gordo you are a gem! I love this and I hate to say never occurred to me.

You're the best for sharing your knowledge, you blow me away with what you teach.

Excellent advice Gordo! 😊 I've switched from hanging to using dehydrator screens with similarly cut up buds to slowly dry in a cool dark room. Your points about uneven drying, etc are right on. Enjoy the vaping....that has definitely become my favorite consumption method also! 🌸

Aww, you guys are way too kind. I love to learn and pass that knolage on to the next young growers. I have one local kid I tought to grow and helped him setting up his grow. And an old shipmate that lives in Scotland and has a tent in his little apt.
It give me great pleasure to see the smile on their faces when they smoke the first bud they grew.
Never stop learning.

Yeah, it's nice to have big buds to look at and show off,, but in the end it will all be ground up and smoked.
