Germination question:

I'm familiar with the old paper towel method but I was re-reading the bubbleponixs tutorial and it suggested put seeds directly into the rapid rioters already placed in the netpot with hydroton rocks. Just have the valve open and the rooter receiving water and the germination will happen.

four strains from seedsman, all feminized and photoperiod

Hello IanHale I don't know anything about hydrotons, but I have used RRs before, just keep them moist , and I never had any trouble. Nice bunch of seeds your getting. Good Luck .

Ian,

I put my, soaked for 24 hours, seed directly in the dirt (soil) and water the pot the pot the plant is going to grow in. No rooter, no plug, no transplant, no light-of-day for my root system ever. It works like a champ. If you are stuck on plugs I still recommend putting the plug in the final container your plant will live in.

Good Luck my Friend,
J.W.

Two seed of each strain with a 3rd in reserve. Strongest of each pair gets own reservoir after three weeks.

I was was supposed to get them started a month ago but had to solve some engineering problems while building my grow room.

Weird the top half of my post disappeared.

what it said sorta was: I'll give the direct to rooter approach a shot.

Ian, I'm a DWC grower: I use root riots, turn them big side down (so they'll stand up in germination tray), moisten the rr with pH'd water, make a little opening and put the seed in about 1/6", turn the germination pad on to around 82 degrees, put the humidity dome on the tray with the windows open on top for air circulation, and let em rip. I don't soak seeds beforehand. I check the root riots 2 or 3 times a day for moisture level. That little bit of warmth from the germ. pad had the seedlings popping up in 24 hours on my last germination. Good seeds, too.

I also soak seeds for 24-hours and then plant directly into the RR. I cut the rounded bottom off so the stand on their own, or depending on what I'm growing - Auto's or Photo's - I might plant into a Solo cup, or right into final pot.
