general plant knowledge

Hi folks, total newbie here. Need to know if a plant will continue to produce after harvesting the buds. See, told you I was a total newbie.... Thanks.

If your question means the same plant will do buds over and over NO, to harvest you have to cut it down. You can leave some of the plant and try to induce vegetation again but it takes longer than a new plant

When you harvest you just have to leave some little buds and leaves on the plant but you can cut 90-95% of it. Idk if it works on autos but photoperiod plants can be grown again.

Like the others said, during harvest if you leave some of the plant instead of harvesting it all, you can induce the remainder of the plant to go back to the vegetative stage. At this point you can grow the plant out again, then harvest it again. However, the process of going from the flowering stage back to the vegetative stage can take several weeks or even a month for some plants, so it's often faster and gets more consistent results to start with a new plant each time. That being said, some growers regularly re-harvest their plants. For example I know an outdoor grower in Southern California. He puts his first set of plants out in the middle of winter and they flower almost immediately because of the short days but can stay alive because of the warm California sun. He harvests the top part of the plants right before they would start re-vegetating in the spring, and then lets the whole plant grow out again for a second harvest in the fall. Indoors it seems a lot of growers find re-vegging to be more trouble than it's worth, but not always. Each plant and setup is different! For me, I like to train the plants to grow in a specific shape to get the best yields out of the grow light, so I prefer to start with a new plant each time.

Here's a page about re-vegging if you want to check it out!

Nebula if you cut the top buds off and leave the small lower ones. will they fill out and get bigger , never tried it but have often wondered ?

Yes, for some strains the buds mature at different rates, so some growers harvest their plants in parts. When that happens, the immature buds will keep fattening if you give them more time on the plant :)

thanks I will try that this grow .I have nothing going into bloom after this grow .I am building a new bloom room and keeping tent for veg so I have extra time .this is so cool thanks again
