I don't know where you live but normally onions go in the ground the beginning of Spring. I'm in California and I grow them in containers. Usually I set my bulbs in April.

It has been talked about a few times but never addressed that perhaps there should be some kind of requirement to read the basics before coming to the forum. Perhaps a few questions on content or other indication of a willingness to learn. There are many here smarter than me to lead this but I would be happy to help as I can. This is a delicate matter as it is designed as an open forum for all but somebody got to take out the trash. Will anybody start a new thread on this or is it worth discussing?
