COCO COIR Frankie Goes To Hollywood

What's with everyone mixing stuff off this week. I went to go spray some plants with some water and I was spraying them with rubbing alcohol 😅. I thought I had just picked up the bottle I had prepared seconds earlier but right next to it was a very similar bottle with 70% rubbing alcohol in there I swear. Goober to the max. And I'm pretty sure that's not the first time I've grabbed rubbing alcohol instead of water.
Somebody else had posted just yesterday or the day before that they were spraying plants with hydrogen peroxide solution lolol. It just seems like a goober week 🤣
 
Clones have taken really well to my new aeroponic cloner, they love it even in a room with 50% RH and a bit lower....expecting roots to take a bit longer but that suits my schedule perfectly.

Added 7grm of the trace elements and EC 0.4 in 4 gal then added 45ml A+B bloom nutes to 1.9 EC pH 6.08 for autos

Changed clone veg mix. EC 0.3 pH 5.8 Day 7

Temps 25⁰C RH 51% DLI 43 to 46 on autos

Not noticing new growth on the auto flowers just curling and darkening pistols now. Still taking good amounts of water.
 
Cloning bucket update

Sat down last night to do some reading at a great permaculture site last night. I noticed my clones had darkened a bit and still no sign of roots so thought I better understand what was going on. Not cannabis specific.

Apparently N is your enemy when it comes to rooting clones so I ditched the veg mix and swapped it out with a bloom mix at 0.4EC and pH 5.8. I also added silica and about to add some red clonex at a bit under half the recommended purple rate as it's the same stuff only twice as concentrated. I dipped in the purple to start them.

I have increased the spray timing to 1 min on 15 off.
 
ooo ouch yeah nitrogen burns. Roots definitely need some phosphorus to grow strong. Nitrogen is usually equated with growth because it helps plants grow big leafy and green. Glad you caught that when you did. How many days have they been in the cloner now? 5?
 
8 or 9 with low humidity which makes rooting take longer. The mother they came from I dropped the EC of her back to about 1.1 from memory for about 36hrs before taking the clones

I'll be doing some more cuttings from mothers in a couple of weeks so have back up if I stuffed em
 
As long as it doesn't clog the lines or pumps you're using, i say go for it. The nitrate version of nutrients may not always be the best one
 
No3odiesShad0w This is a nitrate free trace element powder. It appears to mostly dissolve but does leave a white sediment that I stir up from the base of the tank each watering. It's too late in the autos growth to get much benefit but I'm testing it on them. Currently adding about 8 grams of it to 4 gal of water then adding in bloom nutes after mixing. Doesn't appear to be hurting them. I'll phase out the calmag nitrate additive during the stretch and introduce this powder when I flip my photoperiods.
 
Changed back to bloom EC 1.6 calmag to 1.7 EC on the autos, two of them drinking less now. I'll bring the pH up to 6.3 because of cal def and yellowing now because of it. I th8nk the temps and RH are pretty good. 51% and 24.5⁰C

Photo OZ x SD drinking huge amounts in 7 gal pot & switched back to calmag & veg to EC 1.6 across all 3 photos at all different stages.

It's a bit big but I may be able to spread it out after autos come out..maybe 2 weeks..ish
 
Gave the autos a really good defoliate to improve ventilation and get some light onto buds. Some spots were very wet..fan leaf stems are covering themselves in trichomes, not what I'm used to. Pedestal fan now on the autos at bud level, heaps of airflow. Fingers crossed not too late

These things are performing well. Bit more picky to grow and nute sensitive but I'm guessing all autos are like that when pushed pretty hard which I did. I'm no longer pushing them. Lights at 80% temps and nutes conservative. Have to watch them very closely as they let you know immediately if you don't get it right. One of them looks like it will be high yielding which I'm guessing is about half a lb. Covered in trichomes. Beautiful perfume. Leaves are holding up and nit crispy yet..doing my best to keep them going and healthy.
 
Sativa photoperiod 1st topping. Topped just under the 7th node, which is 3" above the coco. Had 10 nodes to about 4" to 5" high...really nice and squat.

Edit. I don't think it is one of my sativas but one I crossed with an indica I liked, but it is difficult to tell at this stage. My sativa seeds are a bit past their useby date.

You don't get any issues when you defoliate the autos? I worry so much about stunting them. That's why the autos are pretty leafy.

I try tucking as many leaves as I can. Any leaves that can't be tucked I make a note of and I try to only remove 1 or 2 leaves a day to prevent any kind of big stress. One broken leaf will heal usually within 12 hours.

Aside from that, how many days left on the autos? They're looking lovely! I wish we had the ability to share scents over the Internet... That would be awesome. We can smell everyone's grows 🤣
 
I defoliated because it was thick and the humidity in some of the buds, they were almost dripping. I had to get dry air into them and I had too much leaf. Yields are secondary to mould. Guaranteed if I didn't trim.
