Foxtails

I'm starting to get foxtails on buds closest to lights. Although I don't really care I am curious what is causing them. I had the same thing happen last grow but buds grew into the lights. This grow, lights (4-42w CFL) are about 4 inches above top of buds and when I hold my hand under lights it is warm but comfortable. Temperature in grow box is between 84 and 79 degrees with humidity below 50%. I know the most likely cause of foxtailing is heat or too close to lights but didn't think CFL's would be an issue. Could it just be generics?

Buds showing early signs of foxtailing. last grow they were fist shaped like shown in Nebula's link. That is what makes me wonder if it is just a trait of this strain.

Either way...beautiful!!!

You got good conditions so...Let them go and till regular buds are done..no worries for sure.

Just checked trichomes and starting to show amber so I started 36 hour dark period before harvest. Did first flush two days ago so we shall see!

Sometimes it's a sign that conditions could be better...do take notes when it happens and try to improve next time if desire

That's what I am trying to figure out for next grow. Because I use CFL I don't think it is lights. My temps were in the low to mid 80'September so while not terribly high I'm thinking that could be a contributing factor. My next move will be to improve exhaust fan but I need stealth.

Thanks Nugs. Breeder says it's a 48 day under ideal conditions. Same strain last grow took 84 days. Not complaining, just looking toward next grow. Of course that will come after I dry and cure this batch! 😉
