SOIL Fox Farm soil trio / Calimagic

Hey all. I've been mixing the FF soil trio and the calmag separately and applying them on different days. I would like to combine them into the same solution. I keep reading conflicting info on this. Is it ok? And in what order do I mix them?

Secondly, can anyone recommend a DRY all purpose fertilizer for outdoor garden beds? Thanks!

***Update*** I finally got fox farm customer support on the phone. She told me FF Trio and Calmag can be mixed in any order. And is good for 48 hours after mixing.

No, I disagree. Put everything into the water at the same time. Then PH it. Adding cal-mag after the ph measuring will change that measurement. You need to know exactly what goes in and what goes out. If your FF trio has an analogue to GH Micro, than add this into the water first. Why I don't know, but that's general "wisdom". The purpose of the cal mag is to enhance the nutrient uptake of the plant. Putting it in on different days may effect that uptake.

Ok. Let me make sure I have it straight. All in one bucket. Add the micro first. The other nutes and calmag can be added in any order. I take a final PH reading and make any adjustments. Correct?

Hi Bud
Regarding your first question, it is generally safe to mix the FF soil trio and CalMag together in the same solution. However, it's important to note that the order in which you mix them can make a difference. It is recommended that you add CalMag to your water first and mix well before adding the FF soil trio. This is because CalMag can cause the pH of the water to increase, and the FF soil trio requires a slightly acidic pH level to be effective. Mixing CalMag first will help ensure that the pH level remains stable and within the optimal range for the soil trio.

As for your second question, there are many dry all-purpose fertilizers available for outdoor garden beds. Some popular options include:
  • Espoma Garden-tone All Purpose Organic Fertilizer
  • Jobe's Organics All Purpose Fertilizer
  • Dr. Earth All Purpose Fertilizer
  • Miracle-Gro Performance Organics All Purpose Plant Nutrition Granules
Good Luck Peace Out

Easy peazy….Put All your nutes into your water, shake it up really well, measure your ph then adjust accordingly. No need in complicating anything

Thanks all. Today is a fertilizer day. Things have been going so well (lately) I hate to do anything different. But mixing the trio and calmag separately is becoming a hassle.

Why is it complicated? mix nutes on feed day, add cal-mag on water day ph. em and dump em in.
