I know this whole thread is a little off topic for GWE but I think Flockshot has a point. Small farms and rooftop gardens are great and produce the healthiest food there is, but they cannot feed the world.. The mis-information about Monsanto on the web is quite extensive and held up as truth. I am not saying they are saints (no corporation that size can have any interest for the common good just their stock holders). By growing GMO staples such as corn and soybeans, though, farms actually use less pesticides and other chemicals. Glyphosate (Roundup) has not been linked to cancer in any peer reviewed journal that I know of (at least not yet and it has been around for decades). There is one large, recent study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute that says it does not. I have no problems with people speaking out about corporate agriculture, and we do need to keep them accountable for so many environmental problems (fertilizer run off, deforestation, and many others). Also, you can really damage a company like Fox Farm just by associating it with Monsanto (they are not owned by anyone) especially on such a popular site as this. FYI though General Hydroponics is owned by Scotts which is owned by Monsanto (which is in the process of being bought by Bayer Crop Science) .
