Flower Cycle Duration Question

Lets clear something right now!
Okay lets say you veg for 28 days, now would you start counting the flower cycle on day 29 as flower cycle day 1... or would you start the flower day count once the first pistols appear?

I grow from seed for 7 days
I always veg for 28 days
I always count flower day 1 the moment I flip the lights to 12/12
So I end up with (give or take) a total of 90 day cycle

I have great crops, but I wonder if I have always been a week early, what do you think!?

Vitreous, if your pistils and trichomes are the way they're supposed to be prior to harvest, then you aren't early!!

I had someone on another forum trying to force her definition of the "correct" flowering phase on me: screw that. I call it when I flip the switch to 12/12. By the time I switched on my current grow, some pre-flowers were showing.

I never go by what the breeder statement says about flowering time, it makes no difference, what I look at is the trichomes. They tell me when they are done.. I know that by going to early can keep the buds from fattening up.

I start counting on the day it goes 12/12. It's just fo reference. Plants going to do its thing. Mine always go longer. Plants don't have clocks or calenders, darn them !!

Except for only 28 day veg, I do the same count you do. Seedling for 7 days, veg for between 6-10 weeks (depend of how the plants are progressing), and flower from day 1 of 12/12.

I don't know if this is the 'right' way, but it's how I choose to label the stages.

Thanks alltatup, I switch to 12/12 no matter what on day 28.5, (Helps keep my plants short) They always have small bud sites, but never pistols. These normally appear within the first or second week.
