First time outdoor grower with a couple of questions

Hello,

I started my seeds indoors under some CFL grow lights on April 1st and moved them outdoors on June 1st (Southwestern, Ontario, Canada) I chose to grown Jack Herer and Death Star OG both auto flowers. I have made a couple of mistakes along the way. The first was starting the seeds too early and as they started to smell I had to put them in the shed with a heater and more lights due to smell in our house. Next was adding liquid nutrients to the Fox Farm Ocean soil which caused a little bit of nutrient burn.

Even with a couple mistakes my grow seems to be going okay. Both my questions are about harvest. I know I must be close as I am in week 11 but being a first timer I don't want to harvest early. I have attached some pictures. The next question is some of the smaller buds on the branches away from the main stem seem less mature. Can I cut the buds off the main stem and see if the other buds mature some more or do I just harvest the entire plant?

If you see anything else that might be of concern please let me know as I am a complete noob!

Yes you can do that, i've done it many times. I just took down a 10wk auto seed to harvest but mine was only in a little over a gallon cont. So yes take the sections that have ripened allow the rest to carry on. It's called a sequential harvest best of luck :big-smile:
 
Looking at my photos do you think I am ready to start harvesting? The Trichomes still appear to be clear which is why I am hesitant
 
Well i do know that the Jack will be a longer finish at least 11wks you just have to wait till you like the way the trichs are. What are you giving them now for food? When it gets within a couple weeks i stop feeding and just water+ molasses.
 
I have switched to just water. I was using the Fox Farm Trio but they seem to be doing okay with just tap water from the hose for the last week.
 
Nice job, for your first grow, looks great to me.
Best I can tell is you still got a couple of weeks left, try not to harvest early or you'll be disappointed.
Where did you get DeathStar, auto seeds?
Youll be smoking some killer soon, congratulations.
