First Time Grower, Storytime...!

Agree with Ginge....your plants are looking mighty fine so harvest on trichome color for sure....don't like guessing as I'm wrong most of the time when I do.

Ahhh, I hadn't looked at it that way... You mean that with a flashlight or similar I should be able to look at trichomes with the naked eye ?
Any particular technique ? :)

Not really..it'll just look frosty.

You need to be able to see the round bulbous top of the trichome so either

A really good camera phone with 3x zoom and better that you can then zoom in on the pic.

A jewellers loupe

A usb microscope you can plug into your phone

There may be other solutions.

My neighbor had young enough eyes to tell me what I can only see with a loupe. But, generally, you will need at least a magnifying glass. Your 20x should be good enough.
Technique using the light is use only the light. Turn off your LED when checking trichomes. Although your plants look pretty in blurple, it is not what you want to see.

I'll try with the flashlight and my 20x and the grow led off. I'll let u know and i''ll try to take some pictures. Thanks for the advise !

Okay... some improvements.

Thanks for the suggestion to take photos with the LED off.

I was not able to see perfectly, but with the glass and the flashlight I could get a more detailed general picture. I see mostly clear/milk and few ambers here and there.

I pulled all my effort to take these pictures. Uploaded them directly, usually they get really compressed.
Also, applied some magic from Adobe Lightroom to improve the quality and sharpness. no color or white balance correction

Took some with the glass attached to the phone and the flashlight ( don't ask me how )

And others just with the flashlight and phone

Watchu think ?

High praise coming from you ! Thanks.

I have that page in my bookmarks !
I think I'll stick to my schedule. I'll flush and Next Wednesday / Thursday is harvest day. Cloudy with a sprinkle of amber is what I'm aiming for.

Greetings from the microworld !!

I got myself a 20 bucks pocket microscope...fun stuff

It's not an easy task, but I figured out that taking a video and then pausing it in the computer and taking screen cuts it's easier than trying to take the picture itself. With the phone autofocus and the microscope being very sensitive to movement it got kinda hard there for a minute.

Mostly half cloudy and clear and just a few ambers here and there.
Tried to focus on bud and inside the bud rather than the sugar leaves.
I was supposed to harvest today / tomorrow, but I will give it another week at least, keeping and eye on progress !. Running on 11th of flower now.

Some cool images came out, trichomes, pistils , etc

Enjoy!

HARVEST !!!!

Trichomes turned 80% all the way milk, and 20 % amber... some reluctant transparent ones.

Girls stopped drinking last watering, it took 4-5 days to "dry", where before it was drinking every other day, so today it was chop chop day.

Noticed some white leaves/tips here and there in the top buds, maybe it got too hot s and/or the light was a bit too close.

Shoulda dimmed down a bit, last two weeks, lesson learned.

Drying in the same tent !! My plants had lots of space in between so I hung the complete plant to dry.

Slight Breeze = ON

Go !

Enjoy the pics

End of Grow !!!

Thank you all for reading my thread.

It has been an amazing experience, I've learnt a lot about the art of growing cannabis.
Right now the buds have been a week in the jars. Burping daily and the smells are out of this world.

1: Tutti Frutti with yogurt, really sweet and pungent. Yielded about 35 Grams

2: Incense and wood, with a cheesy stank. Yielded 30 Grams

I've smoke some to test with 1 week of curing, stabilized at 60 RH.

The happiness of growing my own dope is something i can't describe. You have to add that to the smoke experience.
The high is really pleasant and i'd say that n°1 is more chill, achieved some couchlock with harvest and n°2 is more active, mental high, probably strain characteristics.

I'd say this grow was a success. I'll let you guys know when the curing is complete ( 1 or 2 more weeks )

One of the key lessons were... be more careful with defoliation going into flower and lower the intensity on the light for the last 2 weeks at least.
Nutrients were okay I think, and I gave it 2 weeks and a half of flush. No chemical taste :)

I think i am ready for some quality seeds and putting the system to the test.

See you in the next one !

Ninja.
