First Grow Problems

Chuckar

New member
Hello as you can see I am new here so hello everybody. This is my first grow I kind of help my sister last year grow some autos but this is my first grow on my own. There are three plants everything was going well I put them on 12/12 four weeks ago, last week I notice brown marking on the edges of some of the upper leaves. It looked like a potassium deficiency from the picture on the GWE diagnose your sick marijuana plants page so I gave them some nutrients and it look like it stopped. After a few days it started on all three plants I flushed with just ph water two times but it is getting worst so I need some help thanks in advance.

Coco Coir 5gal Smart pots
GH Flora Series + CaliMagic
Nebula's Coco Coir Nutrient Schedule
400 watt HPS 12 to 14 inches above plants
RH 40 to 50
Temp 65f to 82f
PH in 6.0 out 5.5 to 6.0
Plant Nirvana Papaya

Welcome, Chuckar!!!! I'm only on my second grow, so not sure what to tell you about the leaves, Just wanted to say welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will get some good responses from the more experienced people later on! Your buds look fantastic!!!!!

Welcome and congrats- your plants looks good.

It looks like the plant is getting light/heat issues with some potassium deficiency.
I don't use HPS- so won't recommend a distance based on what I see- but get the plant further away from your light and see what happens.

Is the plant a photoperiod or auto?

First of all WOW what a nice plant you got there. I think it could be potassium def or something like that. Maybe caused by something else like root problems or ph fluctuations. Tell me something do you flush your medium? I didn't flushed my last indoor and it got up to 3600ppm and it was causing similar rust spots

Yes I always do the 20% run off and the last two watering I flushed with just ph water like I said above being my first grow this is stressing me out...and thank you for your input.

You're welcome. Don't "stress" this is an opportunity to learn. Maybe not in this instant but pay a lot of attention to every detail and let the plant tell you what's going on. Sometimes trying to fix something we try so many things that we get just more trouble. Keep the good work (you are doing everything right) and see what happens. You'll figure it out sooner or later. So it's better to learn from it than stres

I agree w/ 9fingers: we newbies may not be able to help stressing a little, but everything we do puts us closer to becoming master growers. I'm on my second, but I stressed a lot on first grow!!! And I got great bud from it, so all the stress was a waste of energy...

Beautiful Girls! I don't know if it related - probably not - but it looks like your girls need a good defoliation. I would definitely help get more light in.

Hello Dagmar I was worried that with the problem I am having that I would need all the leaves so the plant could make it four more weeks....I also don't have a clue what to take off. Thanks for your input and help I will try that as soon as I can stop the leaves from turning brown.

Just in case anyone's confused (maybe just me): I posted the defoliation page for future reference. Sorry to all (especially Chuckar) if it seemed to confuse the issues.

My understanding: Strategic defol. is good at strategic times. Here's part of a GWE page devoted specifically to defol. during flowering stage:
http://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation#defoliation-flowering-stage-how-to

On this page, she says when it's a good idea and when it's not. Not sure which bill your girls fit: the buds look really strong, but you have the leaft issues poping up.

Removing dead leaves is not technicially defoliation: I learned on GWE that it's ALWAYS good to remove dead leaves to avoid the problems 9fingers points out and as part of the generaly hygiene of the grow area.

No Title

I forgot to put this in the first post the leaves that start to brown first are on the stems that start at the bottom of the plant. Here's a few more pic's

Hi Chuckar Welcome

Looks like maybe you let it stay dry a little longer then normal or it's just shutting down now...the first grow takes forever and you worry 24/7 you aren't doing everything you should.

Relax and when you feel anxious take a close up picture and share with us! Those buds look gooooood!

Have fun!

Some fine looking babies you got there Chuckar, in spite of the leaf issue! Super for first grow, and we all have been though that stress! 😊 Welcome to our forum community!🌻

Thank you Karlee I just want to get them finished....and yes your right this is very stressful I know it is a learning thing... thanks for your support.

Man that is beautiful!!Besides P def that brown color is kinda stressing me(also on ym first grow lol) because it might also be a root problem!!If you are sure your roots are healthy then check Ph fluctuations and give an inch to your light distance...Still looks like you're gonna be smoking some great bud!!
