First Grow - Couple of questions

Hey All,

Amazing place here...so glad I stumbled on it. I'm just starting my first grow, seeds are germinating as we speak. I have a couple of questions that i'm hoping to get some clarification on. My set up is a 3x3x7 tent with a 315 LEC and i'm using coco as my medium.

For ease...I thought i'd put the germinated seeds in the roto rooters and then into the coco with my LEC at the top of the tent and let nature take its course. That said, I also have a tray and a seedling heat mat and a couple of LED's in case I wanted to go that route.

If I go the first route...with my light at the top of the tent, will that be enough once they sprout or will it be too much light?

thanks in advance!

Have you read any of the very useful tutorials? I don't know your lights but if they came with your tent as a kit you should be cool, but what is important is the distance from the lights to the plants. I believe LEDs are the way to go for a couple reasons like, cost to operate and they produce much less heat. I don't know a whole lot about what lights cover what area. My kit came with 2 120w panels that the company said they were equiv. to 600w, but you can't always believe that hype. Again, I read the tutorial, well all that applied at the time. I read a couple of review for the Sub 315 and several mentioned it worked well in 4X4 along with an LED. Best of luck with your grow.

Thanks guys!

Woke up this morning and almost all of the seeds germinated. I placed the seeds in rapid rooters and placed the tray in my tent on the floor and flipped on the light. I got home from work and the tent was 95 degrees and the rooters were almost completely dried out. I took out the tray, re-hydrated and placed them under a couple of T5 flourescent lights. Decided not to use my seedling mat since its fairly warm still where I am.

Hopefully I didnt fry the seeds today.

I put a dome on mine and had great success, 7 outs 7 germinated and are growing alright. I think you may have to cool that tent down, I like mine in the upper 70s and when it gets higher than 83 I take measures to cool the tent down.

its summer...didnt even occur to me to open a window lol. Hopefully tomorrow they'll pop thru and sprout. Have Aghani, Bruce Banner and Narcotherapy autos.
