Finally a New Grow Area

Regarding the blueberry and gorilla glue lemon fire beans that did not germinate...I pulled the trigger and re ordered, but in the mean time, a few of the many left over thai beans were put on the plate to see if it was operator error...they germinated in 3 days and they are 4 years old, 2018 is when the seed run happened...

With only the mars fixture running at 75% the temps are down to 73 degrees.. I suspect the temps will be manageable during flowering with winter weather on the way..

A little progress... Well had to order blue berry again because not one of the 5 seeds germinated, and 4 of the g.l.f were a bust as well.. I had 3 g.l.f left, because C.K sent 7# seeds. What we have is a couple of b.b (second order) and two g.l.g, yeah only one has sprouted but the other did germinate on paper towel, actually I pulled the plug out and had a peak, just to confirm it did not slip down. The other is Thai x c.c.k and it is from this summer grow..Curious to see how it grows because it is second generation and was pollinated from a strong kush pheno type..I thought he was a she all the way to the end (dam that sounds bad) and he had really hash smell..

The G.L.F looks messed up (to me) and the other has not made its way up..Those seeds were ordered in the middle of covid and I know they were leaving shipments sit for days, I do not know if they were doing anything to sterilize the shipments...Never herd anything to the effect but the fact remains that order of beans has been problematic!

transplanted them to there 3 gal mod / fabric pots...And pulled the trigger and bought a ro system for aquarium no holding tank, not needed..Just under $60. The Thax x Cotton Candy Kush seeds (this summer) are a head of the blue berry but they will catch up.. The GGLF has been a real pita..it is the only one out the entire order that germ..I think they zap them packages during covid with some ??? re ordered blueberry from crop king and these ones did come up..ya ya I post a pic of the 4 above...

changeofpace2014 for my mars hydro panel the ballasts can be removed from the panel but the cable is only about 2 or 3 feet in length. To keep temps down in my tent I resort to insuring the heat from the light panel up is removed. I generally measure temp at the light panel height as I know it’s going to be less at the plants. A larger variable speed exhaust fan is VERY helpful. You can not move enough cool air in if you cannot move the heated air out. Fans are getting cheap like borscht. Keeping in mind that each bend in your exhaust also reduces cfs air flow.

changeofpace2014 as far as the light up in the floor joist.

I would line the wood with some thin reflective insulating material. You can find it for garage doors or even thin foam board with the foil covering. Then baffle the joist off and pull air through it with the exhaust fan.

The tent is sealed around the floor joist as well (PITA). I decided not to cover the floor joist because, to many issues..potential fire hazard (lights will be tucked against the joist at some point, and the light yo yo are mounted up in the joist as well as the carbon filter / in line fan.

Only the mars is on now, for veg (around 75%) not much heat...72 - 73 degrees day and 68 evening, but lights are on 24 to help keep them short. It has been 21 days yesterday since the tap root went in the coir. They will be topped back down to the 3rd node when they reach 5 or 6 node.

They will be topped when at 3rd node when they grow out to the 5 or 6 node. Kind of waiting on the roots to develop after the transplant before topping. 1 more week. The nodes are pretty tight (:. The 5th node is just growing out. the pic above is a few days old and they have grown quite a bit.

Spent all day disconnecting a sink and washing machine ,so a little aquarium RO system could be plumbed in...I can plumb but only for Family because it always gets complicated and multiple trips to hardware store... It works and is leak free...However it took 1 hr to fill one 5 gallon bucket....No Shit....1/4 tube.... ...

I went with the RO because of the hard water at the new house..not to mention every feed chart gives ratio based on RO water with 0.00 or close to 0.00 ppm / ec and when you start off with 2000 ppm of crap it takes about a 1:1 ration to bring the ec down, for example if I mixed floral trio, calmag, armor si for three gallons, it was taking 2 or 3 gallons to bring the ec down...That is a lot of dilution... It still requires dilution but not to the extent of plain tap water..

These pics are a few days old... So the carbon filter was moved out of the joist to promote better air exchange...Heat is ok so far, but the mars is only at 75% while the diy cobb fixture is just under 300w. Since the plants have grown I have noticed a potential issue with humidity, enough to have me thinking and planning..Hopefully the outside temps will stay below freezing, but this weather has been a roller coaster and the warmer then usual temps will return to seasonal in the next week or so we shall see how they effect the humidity inside...

Had issues this time around so I added "enzymes-komplete" to the base nutes "floral trio" and some armor si "well a competitor product".. Plants look way better but not sure if the roots finally caught up with the 3 gal fabric pots.. for now going to stick with the enzymes-komplete.

it looks like humidity is going to be an issue....foot in mouth...What I can tell from watching the temp / humidity as the lights come back on..The humidity drops from 68% / 70% back down to about 55% when the lights get to temp..Some where around 22.5 the humidity starts to drop back down to around 65%...

I have a P.I.D temp controller for a distilling project, that was put on the back burner...The plan is to set the pid to my target temp and hook a small heater up to cycle on and off...I am not sure if I am going to leave the heater n in the tent or in front of the original air intake..Yes the heater has a built in thermostat as most do, but the pid will allow infinite control of the heat,, at least this is my understanding.

The humidity runs about 13% higher inside the tent as compared to out side. So we will see how this works out...

new house, new grow area, Big learning curve for LST and keeping them low and flat. Manifolding was straight forward (thanks Nebula) and very effective in keeping tall plants manageable but that ship sailed along with the old 6.5 ft tent...

Mars is at 100% now and the temp is holding @ 82...I will have to live with this but I suspect the temps will drop a few degrees as this cold weather lock in for the season...Watching a blizzard unfold this weekend...

Winds have been at least 25 mph for the last 24 hrs and another 24 to go. Inside humidity has dropped to 28%. Got the water faucets dripping. Cat water bowl froze out in the garage this morning. We might get to a high of 0F today.

Going to be massive water / flooding issue across many states and province with the warm up late this week...Dam frustrating to have the outside temps up down with massive temp swings..Complicates the indoor environment, unless one is using heaters, dehumidifiers, and ac as the primary means of control. I can run a large dehumidifier in the crawl but that would drawl 8 + amps to much additional cost. I started on a P.I.D to turn a small heater on and off as needed to help with dark cycle humidity. Just when you get your tweak dialed in the weather changes drastically....
