Finally a New Grow Area

Good warning to all of us who intentionally pollinate. I've never had it stick around past the initial grow. You must breed strong pollen!

Each set of cuttings continued to have seeds but when I finally got to the last 3 or 4 group the seeds were very sparse....Hard lesson and a lot of clean up needed..

it was full strength blue berry pollen...should of diluted it and should of been some where else when I pollinated...I was just outside the tent, but I did have the whole plant bagged with one exposed branch on each plant....To much work and $ to end up with unwanted seeds in the bud.

Dam thought I learned that lesson!

Last year indoor grow was another bust. Did a planned pollination of some cotton candy kush and I took cuttings before flowering really got underway....My intention was to collect some cotton candy kush pollen and use that on the outdoor grow...I thought the males were pulled out of the tent in time....Those little buggers are so sneaky, there is always one or two hidden pollen sacks bust...and I.M.O natural pollination is way more effective then targeted....Every F...Where...

Any how had some seed free outside bud from this past summer.

So here we are new year, new winter grow - Not looking for pollen this time!

I Finally modified the tent and cut / beat out the active intake. Once the repair was complete "mess" cut in two 5 gal blk buckets with bottom removed. I know sona tubes would of been easier and look much nicer but the weather can be a big deal here and did not want to make the ride to the depot. The next best thing was the blk 5 gal buckets at the $ store and it is close by..

The buckets are some what tapered with the largest end about 11.5 ". Two buckets were cut in front of each 300 w led. Looks like temps will be around 77 / 78 but I think I can bring that down a little bit with two 11 " turbo fans in front of the intakes. "these are winter temps" summer is another issue with undersized AC - need another 1 or 1.5 tons.

Lights and tent are cleaned up / inspected. I have been thinking about beans... Nice selection from Franklin "thanks man" but opted to grow out a (s.c x c.c.k x b.b) cross. Really nice cross but I have not grown this one inside yet, only out side...Mine you it did finish in the late fall, must be the b.b in it.. The other two selections are (Gorilla Glue Lemon Fire x B.B) Un-kown...and (Franklins OZ x S.D crossed with c.c.k).. The c.c.k should add some serious bulk to the bud, just hoping she will still be a pretty specimen.

We Shall See....

Forgot to mention, after checking the most recent over inflated F...Price on activated carbon, it was quickly realized the better option would be to just replace my 4" carbon filter with a 6" one...Dam 16" long made me think my old 2.5 ft 4" DIY filter was a bit over kill....

I have refurbished the carbon in the 4" filter about 3 times..Time for a new upgrade..

Note: to all you running a pre-filter that comes with the carbon filter...hold that pre-filter up to you moth and see how hard it is to either blow air through or suck air in...One will very quickly realize there CFM are cut in half or worse...I opted to not run with pre-filter, however I will buy some activated carbon pre-filter material on line and wrap that.

The filter brand was an iPower 6"..

I need to run a carbon filter here and create slight negative pressure in my flower room during stank phase. The smell has gotten completely out of hand here and people are noticing it driving down my road if they have their window down, and thsts quite some distance from my house. I get a few comments and most know exactly what it is. That's a big concern.

I can't really do it properly though with my current setup as the main AC draws some air from the room for the heat exchanger and I have to vent that outside unfiltered and with extra heat, which likely makes the stank even worse. I need a big split system to solve that...

My old tent was a DIY and when the fan came on the sides got sucked in, so there was a lot of negative pressure for the carbon filter to be most effective.

Bluey maybe you could construct a small box in the middle of the exhaust run and mount an ozone generator in there. That would eliminate the smell... Your only looking for a small unit, but not to small lots of air flow moving through there. Some people use the Ozone generating UV lights for AC duct and some use a small ozone plate with fan..Two approach guess it depends on the situation.

just a thought

Ozone generators are something I know zero about.

The AC blows out a lot of air through a 4" duct that's quite short. I could divert it into the sewer.....hmm. worth a test.

I spent a lot of time building a few ozone generators with refurbished neon sign transformers.. The reason for the project was well water..

ozone generator if used properly, is environmentally friendly; it only leaves O2 after a reaction...Truth is, anything that actually works and is cheap to produce will be black listed by many as bad.

Activated Carbon is mined, just saying but I have no issue with using it.

Hey there are many growers using ozone generators, I guess it depends on the situation.

Yes if can just divert the smell that sounds simplified. Our old house I routed the exhaust into the chimney and that kept all the smell away from people walking by.

That's a great idea with the chimney.

Yep. Carbon is mined, it's then superheated to activate it which requires heaps of energy.

So all seeds germinated with in 48 hrs, planted them on day 3 and all but one was a few " long. I should of pulled them on day 2 but I did not think they would of sprouted that quick..These are all from crossing previous grows...

Buey you might of missed my post on your show your grow thread with Franklins OZ x SD pic.. I crossed that with c.c.k so we shall see what difference it makes.. Should still be a pretty plant but with way more bulk in the bud. Not sure where the THC will end up at the cck is up to 19% and I suspect the OZ x SD cross has over 22%..

The GLF x ZK x BB should similar in taste and grow should have higher THC since BB is 23%...Lets no count the chickens before they hatch though...long way to go..

The OZ x SD is strong. So is the WW x AK47. As to which is stronger not sure but they are the two strongest strains I have grown to date, also the most dense buds and the dankest too.

The GLFxBB required two more to be germinated, because one sprout did not show and another is taking a couple of days to pop up, even after it emerged...Really would like a couple females from this one. Franklins OZxSD was crossed with cck and they are the first ones out, mind you a little taller then I would like maybe my cfls need changing..I will plant them deep when they get transplanted.. Can not start off with tall plants no good in smurf tent..Added one SCxCCKxBB because one did not surface yet...I know patience but these guys were all tap roots 2 " long and should of all surfaced...

I think Franklin will vouch for me 2Fast - I have been around for several years now....Yes I do not like to post stuff that could become incrementing. So I try to keep pics within legal limit here..

Here you go a little update on Winter Grow..running a little Late... - We have some of Franklins and Unknown Member for the OZxSD Cross with a CottonCandyKush addition, We also have a GorillaLemonFirexBlueBerry - Suppose to be original from CropKing, but there are two pheno types with this one; this should be a high THC or for me at least and finally we have Strawberry Cough x CottonCandyKush x BlueBerry; this is a really nice cross, smell, flavor and high. I think Franklin grew this out inside but I have only grown this cross out "Outside"- way stronger weed grown inside up here.

Updates from time to time.

The OZxSDxCCK cross was the first out of the gate.. I will have to plant "deep plant" these when I transplant but I leave them in the 1 cp for while. The SCxCCKxBB was the second out of gate and the GorillaLemonFire x BB is the slowest and it appears to be fragile..so I started a couple more beans looking for at least two nice females.

These are regular seeds. I will see how the crosses grow out and move towards CS approach later. Need to find my 30v old printer transformer. Here Somewhere... I did order 99% pure silver rods some time ago, even had a run at CS but was not happy with the outcome, so change up the transformers this time around.
