HELP! Fertilizer

Has anyone used a plant fertilizer called Osmocote on their plants and what were the results

My Mom does ...its one of the most popular domestic home gardener nutes around at least in europe the numbers on the label are a hint to their toxicity
typical is 14-4-4? by memory
which means its really a general nute nothing special ..in a pinch I'd go tomato food over this ...as slow-release fertilizers screw any good pot grow
