Sounds like you're on top of it! The truth is that any nutrient system made for hydroponics will work as long as it has a "vegetative" and "bloom" (low Nitrogen) formula. Your environment and how you treat your plant has a
much bigger effect on both your buds and yields than the brand of nutrients!
When it comes to hydroponics/DWC, I personally like the General Hydroponics
Flora trio. This is the
nutrient schedule I use for DWC. It's based on their regular schedule, just cut in half (because the original dosage is far too strong) and converted to imperial measurements. I also use
CaliMagic as a Cal/Mag supplement (optional unless you're using Reverse Osmosis water, but still a good idea because cannabis loves Cal-Mag), and
Hydroguard as a way to fight root rot. Definitely don't skip on the Hydroguard if you're growing with your roots directly in water! It's very effective at colonizing your reservoir with good bacteria that will fight root rot. I think it works better than any of the other "root rot" products I've tried and it's pretty cheap too.
When people say "feed every other watering" they're talking about when you're growing in a potting mix like coco or soil where you're actually watering your plants. Giving plain water every other watering helps prevent nutrients from building up in the soil. In hydroponics you don't have to worry about that since you have a reservoir that your plant roots dangle in, and your job is just to maintain that.
I love my 250W HPS! I know you'll be really happy with the results you get with it
