Now that I've finally got some extra weed, I want to try making edibles.

I get the most important thing is to decarboxylate the weed first https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-decarb-weed-edibles

How to Decarb Weed from growweedeasy.com
  • Before making edibles, decarb (cook) cannabis in the oven for 30 minutes at 250°F (120°C) to increase potency.

But once you've got your decarboxylated weed, what's your favorite recipe on what to do with it?

I'm interested in brownies, cannabis oil, canna pills, tinctures and candy like jolly ranchers or gummy bears. But I kind of want to start with the most proven or easiest edible recipe for my first attempt.

What's your favorite edible recipe? Anything you tried that didn't come out well?

Hi, suspencer.
Once you have decarbed your bud, fill some gelcaps with it - instant edibles, no hassle, no fuss. Take one or two and wait an hour, you'll see. Totally portable.

Personally, I have extra bud and make RSO with it. Ultra potent and stores forever in the freezer. I melt fancy, grocery store chocolate bars, lots of flavors only $4-$5, and mix the RSO in. I then pour into inexpensive silicon candy molds and freeze, remove and keep in freezer.. You can also mix RSO (diluted with a little ethanol) into chocolate chip cookie dough. Both are yum!

My go to is tincture. I found if you decarb 1 oz of weed then add 1 cup of everclear alcohol in a quart mason jar. Let it rest for about 4 weeks then strain it through a coffee filter. Then I usually remove the lid and cover the top another coffee filter and let it evaporate for 2-4 weeks. What is left is some potent brew. You can let it evaporate all the alcohol then you have like a sticky and extremely potent oil. Then if it is still liquid you can put in an eyedropper like bottle to administer. I usually put 1-3 squirts in my evening pbr or a shot glass with lemonade wait 30-45 minutes and your off.You can let more or less evaporate as you go for potency. The only drawback is the tast but the effects are wonderful. My daughter a few years back for Christmas got me the magical butter making machine which can make a batch 4-8 hours.which is quicker of course …at last count in the fridge I have 12-18 bottles of different strains and strength the stuff last for ever in the fridge.

Beeman ,the post above, is making FECO Full Extract Cannabis Oil by decarboxylating the weed then soaking it in 190 proof ever clear alcohol they soaked for a few weeks and evaporated that is called green dragon you can do the golden dragon method as well which is less time consuming, taste less chlorophyll grass like it uses freezing the product. To do all of that you need to be in a place to buy 190 proof ever clear. RSO is the same extracting technique but with not food grade alcohol so you have to make sure all of the alcohol is gone before consuming. I would suggest for your first time trying to make edibles infuse it in butter, MCT oil (coconut oil that doesn't harden and doesn't have the coconut taste) , coconut oil or olive oil. I usually infuse 1/2 ounce of weed cut up buds but you don't need to grind it all up. with 1/2 cup of butter. I typically go a little more of both for loss when you strain out the fat from the weed. so I go 17 grams weed to 5 ounces of butter. I have an Ardent infuser but if you don't have that use a crock pot or double boiler just DO NOT OVER HEAT your weed ever! it will break down the effect of the weed. Once you infuse your fat off choice you can make anything you want with it or use it as it is. I would make cookies or brownies but watch the strength start low wait a while. I did not have much luck with making gummies with the infused MCT oil the gummies weeped out the MCT oil no matter how hard I tried to emulsify it even using sun flower Lecithin. I ended up tossing it in sugar and freezing them I ate them but they melted in heat. I have used the FECO and successfully made gummies and also tinctures and I mixed the FECO with oil of choice to loosen it up enough and used it in a brown dropper bottle to drop the FECO Oil into anything I want but remember oil doesn't mix well in water based stuff. I find making caramels with the infused butter works well but you need to make most of the caramel with regular butter and add there infused butter at the end to avoid the excessive heat it takes to get the the soft crack stage.

I want to be where you are one day with your fridge full of weed tinctures and oils.

When I was in my 20s, we called mixing weed and alcohol and letting it sit for weeks "Green Dragon". But we didn't know to decarb the weed first. And it tasted so gross it was almost inedible.

If only we had known we could evaporate it for a more concentrated weed tincture.

Thanks for the reply!

I like the simplicity of this method!
That is great so simple too ! I love trying new things and learning from it but I am retired and have time to do it. My latest was trying to make edible licorice strawberry flavored because my friend who uses the edibles for medical reasons doesn't like black licorice it needs a lot of work but we could still eat the first try. The favorite is English toffee edibles guessing 10 mg dose each at around 145 doses. But I love the ease of your idea of decarboxylated weed and putting in capsules and it travels well too.

I like the box of Betty Crockers Brownie Cookie mix (Brookies)
1zip of flower decarbed
1lb of butter
2 Cups water
4hrs on low
Strain with a French press coffee maker
Set in fridge overnight, separate puck of cannabutter in the morning 🌄

I’ll try and remember to post a pic. Next few days

I have about a pound left over from Fall '25 harvest and am going to make some dry ice hash. I am thinking the hash, which is almost all trichomes, will make great Gold Dragon tincture with MCT oil ( after alcohol removed).

Here is what in the weed fridge. About 20-26 bottles of “tonic” as the wife calls it.

I only consume flower, but most of us old timers might remember adding an oz of shake to a brownie mix and throw it in the oven. We went to our George Jones concert with green spec in our teeth!!

If you make butter, coconut oil, or tincture you can add one of those to almost anything edible and there you go. I like tincture because I can dose it accurately by number of drops.

Here is how I make the tincture.

Ck, I just love cannabis lab pics! Nice setup! I have tons of glassware, etc., but go simple to avoid having to clean sticky resin out if the inside of my nice pyrex distllation glass. I'll post some pics next time I make some RSO.
