My new soil is very light and my fans are kicking up the finer parts and spreading it thought out the tent. Is there any sort of pebbles/rocks I can use to put a small layer on top of the soil that wont effect the grow?

You can sprinkle some diatomaceous earth on top. I believe it gets firm and crusty after a while?

at any rate, it will also serve as a natural pest control against root bugs like aphids and gnats.

A layer of clay pebbles scattered over the top of you're soil should do the job, here in the UK they only £5 for 10 litres or £15 for 50 litres, they also great for mixing in with the soil to improve drainage.

Others here have suggested something that will also discourage knats. This is a goid idea. But any inert rock or sand material should work fine. Just avoid limestone or diatomite which could disolve some and mess with your PH.
