Exhaust Fan

New member
Hi guys, need advice on a exhaust fan. for a closet, are axial fans more beneficial than centrifugal fans for such a small space?
my priority being quietness, i am willing to build a box around fan.
Will be 6” (150mm)
Vortex S-Line
Can-Fan Max Pro
Can-Fan RKS centrifugal fan

Appreciate any input, thanks:)

I found a little cheap 4 inch fan on Amazon forgot the name but the fan the duct work at my door for 30 bucks can't hear it running and does a great job

Axial fans are low pressure but high airflow rate designs. Where as centrifugal are high pressure but low airflow rate. And then mixed flow is an inbetween. The choice of what design is best, depends largly on the size of the system your using and the demands of the air exchange rate. Small grow systems, such as 2 x 2. Can get away with axial fans, and so saves you money. With larger grow systems, such as 4 x 4, that do not have high temperatures, centrifugal fans will do fine, they will give you satisfactory pressurization and exchange rates. However, if high temperatures are a problem with large grow systems, then mixed flow is the answer. Mixed flow is considered the best and my experience with them in large scale environments, such as greenhouses. Agrees with that.

Every fan will publish the noise level in decibels (dB) in the technical specifications.
If you place the fan inside the tent- that will also help.

In a 2x4x6 tent-I run a variable speed-VivoSun 4" (centrifugal) 203 CFM @ 49dB; which is the same noise level as a "sleep machine" white noise generator.

Vivosun also makes silencers- but I found it wasn't needed.
