Even number of points

I read a publication in the 70's that said pot plants that have a even number of points are male plants. I have grown three plants that had even number of points. All three were males. Can you tell me if this is a way to tell a male from a female?

It's not an accurate way to tell at all. On a mature plant you can usually find leaves with all sorts of numbers of fingers.
