Environmental stunting vs genetics

Ive been wondering if you breed seeds with a plant you have stunted via environmental conditions could the offspring run the risk of being smaller because of it.? 🤯 Any thoughts?

If it creates a genetic marker it will repeat itself again

Ok so best to use only the biggest and fastest growing to cross, if that's what Im going for, just incase.

Done a little googling and as it is in my case, soil conditions can change a plants genetics. Seems like most things can, from light and temperature to chemicals and toxins. If a plant has to adapt, it forces itself to express different genes...

That’s interesting. Sounds like another way to say that MJ uses whatever it has available to it to make the best version of itself that it can. So it really is up to the grower to provide the best environment to get the best results. Garbage in garbage out kind of thing. A question I have is, can sub par genetics be overcome with excellent plant care?

My guess is you’re correct about which plants to cross.

yes, they are a product of their own enviromental ecosystem. they take and use just what they need to survive. when we give them optimal conditions they excel and express these traits. pretty or not

I think sub par genetics can be better or worse based on care but will always be limiting compared to good genetics.
As we know there is also a wide range of results seed to seed even within a given cultivar be it good or bad genetics

Yes, environment effects all things in this regard, even humans.

Would you call the ones in the round pots stunted or just slower growing you reckon?; they're 18 days old.
Note the stem difference aswell, far out. Pretty annoyed I didn't use the same cheap mix for all, but logic says I'm lucky I didn't use the expensive super soil for all.

looks like normal growth for 18 days. color always looks off or lighter under LED lights..

Ok, yea its caught me out before thinking a leaf is dieing or something not right and then after taking it off and outside it looks fine. I'll transplant these into 5 gallon fabric pots this week.
