Electric wire tie downs

I know I’m not the only one that uses 12 or 14 gauge wire for lst. What I’d like to know is, do you only use the coated wire? Or do you use the bare ground wire too?

Personally I only use the coated wire. I dont use the bare copper wire. Maybe its a 100% safe to use but I really don't know. My previous hobby was saltwater reef keeping and copper was a BIG no, no. It could poison your entire reef. So I tent to air on the side of caution.
Maybe someone with with chemistry background can chime in?

I use only (THHN) coated solid wire, its true our girls need a bit of copper, but the wire could be an over dose.

Thanks guys. I had only used the coated so far which means I have a bunch of the bare ground wire laying around, guess I’ll just recycle it. I didn’t even think about it poisoning my plants, I was wondering if without the coating it would cut into or break the stems.

I have found a way to use it in the early phase of training my plants. I will place binder clips on opposing sides of the lids on my totes and then run a piece of the bare wire between them. This gives me something to attach the wire coming from the plant too. But I like the rest I do not place the bare wire around the plant itself.
