SOIL Dying plant, First grow, Need help!!!

New member
This is my first grow, Somango XXL from Nirvana in a FFOF/perlite/vermiculite/peat mix. She is in week 3 of flower. I am running FF nutrients but have only needed to feed her twice, and the first time the bottom leaves got scorched pretty badly. I water with distilled spring water. A few days ago the leaves started to turn brown, and I don't know what the heck she wants from me. What could be causing this problem? A certain nutrient deficiency? Root rot? Light scorching? I am a total amateur, as you might have gleaned. Please help, I want her to live!!!

Hey JTJ, I don't know if it's just your picture or what, but that plant looks yellow to me, if it is yellow an not just my eyes, she needs some food bad. Or some more light.
Are you checking your ph?
What kind of light are you using ? An how far away is it.?
I hope its my eyes, an not your plant, but she's way to early to be that yellow, if she's yellow ,you need to feed her.
I hope its my eyes, cause she's a nice plant that's fixing to get some nice bud on her.

The yellow is on the bottom leaves, and is actually burn from the previous feeding. People seem to think calmag would help, so I'm gonna try that. It's under 2 8bulb t5 fixtures with powerveg flowering bulbs, 18in away. I use distilled water, so only need to pH for feeding. Thanks for your advive!

I am using distilled water as well, I assumed the water would be 7.0 but I’ve found some fluctuations in the bottles I get from the grocery store. And using distilled water is a big part of why you need the calmag.

JTJ D.A.A.S is referring to the overall light green just as Canuck referred the cal/mag making her a richer green. Just a little light in the color department the cal/mag will help for with both issues as its also has micro nutes.

That Fox farm soil ain't got enough nutrients in it to last but about 3-4 weeks, if that long. Yeah cal-mag, helps but your gonna still have to give your plant some nutrients if you want her grow any buds. You done used all the nutrients up in soil. She's yours, so good luck with her.

she looks hungry for some big bloom, grow big and tiger bloom, most people feed weekly or more but a weak blend. good luck

Your right about the FFOF ph issues, but I think my 2 big sacks might have been old when I got mine.Dabado.
He said he ain't fed this plant but twice ,no wonder it's yellow, looking, you can't grow a decent plant with just cal-mag, your supposed to be giving them cal-mag in the first place.
You can't grow a decent plant without giving them proper nutrients, unless your growing in supersoil.

Well like I said I'm very new at this, and the first time I fed (at 1/8 strength no less) this plant almost died. It started in a solo cup, then transplanted into a 1gal, then a 2gal, then a 5gal, so I actually don't need nutes up until flower. You're probably right that food is what she wants. I gave water and calmag last night, so should I give some big bloom and tiger bloom when the soil is dry? Thanks again for your advice

Good Morning JTJ, I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just trying to help you make it to harvest. First thing young seedlings don't need any nutrients, for the first couple of weeks, that's probably the reason she got burned, and since your not using tap water, which is fine to use if you let it sit a day or two to evaporate the chorine, it's much cheaper than distilled, using distilled water you don't have any nutrients -micro in it, that's why you always use cal-mag when using distilled water from the start. Plus you even need to check the ph on distilled water cause it ain't all the same, always ph your water.even if you aren't using nutrients.
If she were mine I would let your soil dry out real good, an then start using flowering nutrients at half of whatever strength is on the bottle, some of it even has a little nitrogen in it to help turn your plant back green like she's supposed to be, then you will have a healthy plant that grows nice buds.
Your plant just needs flowering -bloom nutrients now an she will finish nicely, with nice fat buds, you haven't done to bad for your first time, but you have to feed your plants nutrients
to have them thrive an be healthy, cal-mag want do it all. Good Luck with her JTJ, she's a
pretty plant.
Ps- she is flowering an has been for a while.

Yeah ,molasses is great to use, I'm pretty sure most on GWE uses molasses, at least most have tried it, we've been using molasses since the early 70s , wouldn't be caught without unsulfered molasses.
It even helps in lowering your PH in your water.
