Dusk and Dawn

Newbie, and have a few questions that will follow at later date. Looking into research into the effects, with grow light, of dusk and dawn missing in the light cycle? Any ideas?
 
The only thing it provides for outdoor plants is a easy transition from light to dark and dark to light....that's pretty much it.. in my understanding of it all...

Sunlight has less intensity and a different soectrum at dusk and dawn due to the additional amount of atmosphere it needs to penetrate. Who knows how this effects the plants by depriving them of it, if at all.
 
I grow outdoors. Where I live I have longer dawns and dusks than anyone I know. Dawn was bout 6:00 this morning and the sun won't crack the mountain till bout 8:30. Same thing at dusk. In summer this can be much longer. My plants mature weeks sooner than outdoor growers in other areas in the valley away from mountains. No one can agree why. I think it is the longer period between light and sunrise, sunset. Don't know for sure. Just thinking.
 
Actual, looking for data on the effects of the sudden shock on how plants photosynthesize, would a more natural light cycle better serve the overall life cycle of the plant?
 
I do not know of a light that comes on or can be dimmed and get greater on its own by itself like the sun you might be putting way too much thought into this dude keep it simple
 
They do make dimmable ballasts. I would assume that a smart manufacturer could provide that if it proved to make a difference. Looking for that data.
