Howdy duffman7777, In short, no. Any light infiltration at all will lead to algae growth, robbing the nutrients from the water and doing harm to your plants. The reservoir(s) should not let any light through, to test, hold the reservoir up to a strong light (grow light or sun light), place Your hand inside, and if You can see the shadow of Your hand on the outside, then it is not opaque enough. Just the amount of light that filters down thru the Hydrotron pebbles can and has caused problems in my past grows. Do not use clear or transparent air or water line tubing as this can allow light to enter the reservoir as well.

thanks I have clear reservoirs (they was cheap) would it be ok 2 just duct tape all of the out side im thinking that should do it

haha have you heard the saying “watching grass grow”? That’s how you gonna feel, patience is one of the hardest parts about growing. But also that patience pays :) good luck keep us posted
