Drying environment?

Chop, trim, hang - got it. Previously I have used my tent to hang. Need the space right now for next grow. I see pics of buds just drying in a closet or open room. I have a friend that insists the dry must happen in the tent - completely blacked out and keep the temp down and humidity below 65%. Temperature and humidity conditions I understand. How important is the complete darkness until ready to cure theory?

Light and heat destroy THC and terpenes, affecting taste and potency. Darkness is important. If you can control the temps and RH the drying period doesn't have to be in your tent. The tent just makes it easier to control all three parts of the dry/cure process.

Hang it in the barn with the tobacco if you have a real harvest. If not the closest with some ice will accomplish the task. Lol

I have seen people use a large cardboard box with a couple large holes cut in the side placed in a cool basement with a tiny bit of airflow. The trick is...the slower the dry, the better the bud.

Harvested barley tobacco and hay from age 12 to 15. Bought my first car with the money and got laid my first date in it . What a piece of shit, the date not the car. The car was a real honey.

Most people were afraid of heights so I was happy to take the top rails. Bucked a lot of hay too, Working a few months in the summer would pay more than working all year at a restaurant and with no age restrictions
